Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This is really a wrap-up as I have not shared my work all week.
School is finished, although I will be in a lot next week to pack up all my teaching materials - especially books. I plan on a huge yard sale the end of July. I made over $200 on Friday from fellow teachers - and it is half gone, spent on art supplies!

Collage Obsession
I finally completed the challenge for Collage Obsession - "You",  sharing something personal about oneself.
Because I had been working on some Canada ATCs, I decided to show places I had lived in Canada.

I have lived in many places in Canada - from Winnipeg where I was born, to Montreal, then Toronto at age 8, where I grew up. University in Ottawa, then Kingston. Then the NWT for 3 years of teaching, followed by 3 years in Alberta, then back to Ontario, where I finished my career, in Brantford.
I have had a chance to travel a bit - to Scotland, Cayman island, the islands, Mexico for example. Hopefully we will travel some more.

Be sure to check here for how others faced the challenge.

ICAD
I created a card a day, mostly collage. Daisy Yellow is the place to learn more about this fun challenge - it continues for the month of July.!
Here are the cards from the week past:

Color this Quote

I have had a very hectic week - the last of my teaching career. I have been staying late after school,  packing, making gifts, signing cards, and packing some more. Thursday was the last day of school with the children - very bittersweet. Friday was a PD day - packing, tossing, and selling lots of books.
So this week I did not post at all - very strange after posting almost daily for a while. But I needed that away time. I did create a bit - my ICAD cards, some ATCs and the challenge for Colour this quote. (I'll share the other pieces Sunday.)

This quote is from Psalms and it took me time to go from a  complicated plan  to a simple one.  But it works for me.
Again I have used gelli papers and prints. I even had some fun tonight creating more papers.

Check here for more responses to the challenge at "Artists in Blogland".

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

Great news this week - I won a spot on Ali Edwards' "hello Story" workshop which begins July 8th! How lucky is that!
I am so looking forward to taking this class. Here is a link to her course.

Alpha Dictionary Challenge - B

Today a new letter was posted for the "Alpha Dictionary Challenge" at The Craft Barn:  B.

As I thought about the letter, the word balance struck me as the word I needed to focus on. Looking up quotes, I rediscovered Robert Fulghum's quote:

"Be aware of wonder. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some."
What perfect words as I leave teaching for retirement!

(A gelli paper background of course!)

Check here to see how others created with "B".

ICAD #20

Today is day 20 of ICAD - index card a day through "Daisy Yellow. I have been enjoying this challenge and have tried different media.

Here's today's:

I had photo scraps of skies and used these for the background. The butterfly is from a gelli print.
"Fly" seemed appropriate - as I am getting ready to retire.

Messy Little Details

While visiting blogs last night, I discovered another weekly challenge "Messy Little Details". Because I do love photography, this appealed to me as well as the idea of capturing those odd things that catch your eye. As Carolyn of "Mess, Muddle and Fun" (love that name!) says of the photos "of those odd little things you just have to photograph, things that inspire you, thrill you, make you laugh or make you wonder.

Here is a photo of the doorknocker from my father-in-law's house that I captured just before he sold his home to move into a senior's residence. I always loved it.

Today is day 19 of ICAD - the fun challenge of creating an index  card a day from "Daisy Yellow".

This card started with a collage of cut up flower photos and then the words "Be inspired" was added.

ICAD #18 and Collages

Today is day 18 of ICAD - index card a day - a fun challenge at "Daisy Yellow"

Today I just glued on scraps of gelli papers - no overthinking - just playing. Then I added a quote.

Just creating gives me creative joy!

ABC Wednesday - W

This week we are to focus on W for ABC Wednesday.

W is for weaving.

I've created n ATC using scraps of gelli papers and woven them to a background. This was always a fun pastime as a child.

Be sure to check here for what others did for W.

ICAD #17

Today is day 17 of ICAD - a fun creative way to get some art every day, on a simple index card.

I chose to do a word collage - from a stash of words and phrases I collect for art.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up and ICAD

I have finally finished my last set of report cards! They are due tomorrow and I had a blitz yesterday and today to get them done. Yeah!!!
Now I can get back to a bit more art.  I did not have as much time to work on several of the challenges I usually do.
This week I did work on index cards though - they are quick and fun and a needed art break.

ICAD #14

Another zentangle on a gelli paper background.

ICAD #15
