ART on Friday

2018 has arrived and with it the first Friday of the new year. I am determined this year to create more and blog more regularly.

This week I worked on some art challenges, as well as create some pieces to prepare for this year.

OLW / Dreamboard
My One Little Word for 2018 is MORE. (check here to see how I chose it)

With the full moon on Jan. , I created a dreamboard for the month ahead.

Challenges

Sunday Postcard Art

The theme this week is: CREATE

Take a Word Challenge

The theme this week is "Childhood"

Tag Tuesday

The theme this week is "New Beginnings"

Art Journal Journey
The theme for January is "New Year, New Adventures".
This quote by Neil Gaiman encourages us to make glorious mistakes - and can apply to writing or art.  A wonderful freeing way to start the new year.

Just Create
This week I played with my gelli plate - something I haven't done in a while. I used my bigger new plate and created some papers for backgrounds, using some new stencils I got before Christmas. I will definitely have to do more of that.

I may not have created every day, but I am creating more having fun doing it!

WOYWW

Here we have a brand new year and the first WOYWW of 2018.
I have nor joined in for some time - but since my word of the year is MORE - I need to create more and take part in challenges and memes more.

WOYWW is hosted at Stamping Ground by Julia - who encourages us all to share what is on our work tables and what we are working on.

I have not used my new large gelli plate much at all, so I decided to create some backgrounds for a new project I am starting for ABC Wednesday next week - large quote cards.

Here is my art table: (please forgive the mess - I had been piling stuff in this room to prepare for Christmas.

Here's some of the papers I created:

Happy New Year everyone - happy creating as well!

WOYWW

Each week, Julia Dunnit of "Stamping Ground", encourages us to share our work spaces and what we are working on.
I am taking part in a Valentine exchange and I have been creating backgrounds and cards for this exchange.
Here is my art table in our basement after making some gelli prints:

(papers everywhere!)

Here's my dining room table after finishing the cards (and before I cleaned up)

Here are 2 of the cards I made to give away:

ABC Wednesday - Q and WOYWW

This week Q is the focus letter at ABC Wednesday.(Be sure to check here for more posts on Q)

Q is for quilt ( and quotes).

I have so many scraps of gelli printed and painted papers that I used them to create a pair of paper quilts.

The two quotes fit perfectly.

WOYWW

That time of the week to once again share our work spaces - that fun meme hosted by Julia at "Stamping Ground".

My work space for creating the quilted pages above was my dining room table. It was covered in scraps of papers by the time I was finished.

I also used my art table downstairs to gesso puzzle pieces for a fabulous new challenge – Altered Puzzle pieces (being hosted by Claudine) that has just started. I still have to work on the first two.

Faces,a new Journal page and Kindness postcard

Art It Friday - Show Your Face!

Once again, it's time to share faces/portraits created this week for "Art It Friday - Show Your Face"

I played with some of my gelli papers today and first created this fun face:

Then I worked in my journal. I had loved this quote by Harriet Tubman:

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."
and wanted to use it for the A to Z challenge but it was too long for the cards I used. Instead it worked well here.

Here's a close-up of the face. I started with a magazine face, then gessoed and painted it.

I took part in this postcard exchange with the theme "Collaged Kindness".
I used a gelli paper for the background,  and alphabet stickers. The quote comes from the amazing book "Wonder" written by R. J. Palacio. There is a whole movement based on "Choose Kind" and it is one I used in my classroom. If only everyone would!

Julia of "Stamping Ground" hosts a fun weekly meme where work tables are shared from around the world. So much creativity!

Last week i shared my painting table and some asked what I used the papers for. here are some ATCs I created with some of the papers:

as well as a Christmas tag

Today I am at the dining room table finishing some photo ATCs for a swap I am hosting at ATCsForAll (I really enjoy hosting and taking part in the variety of swaps there)

WOYWW

A snowy day outside and I have just finished playing with paint at my worktable. Now, I am going to use some of the papers I created for some ATCs..

My painting is done in my art room in our basement. Here's a look at some of the papers I created.

(The roll-offs actually make some really interesting backgrounds - great for journals.

When I create ATCs or stamps or work in my journal, I do that at the dining room table. Here I am just about ready to work on some cards before supper.

Be sure to check out "Stamping Ground" for a look at worktables around the world!

WOYWW

Today is time to share what's on your worktable at the "Stamping Ground".
Last night I finally added a second layer to the backgrounds I began last week. It is such fun to play with paints and stencils. Here's my table this morning - after I left everything to dry. Now I just have to gather and tidy and put paints away!
