Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This is really a wrap-up as I have not shared my work all week.
School is finished, although I will be in a lot next week to pack up all my teaching materials - especially books. I plan on a huge yard sale the end of July. I made over $200 on Friday from fellow teachers - and it is half gone, spent on art supplies!


Collage Obsession
I finally completed the challenge for Collage Obsession - "You",  sharing something personal about oneself.
Because I had been working on some Canada ATCs, I decided to show places I had lived in Canada.

I have lived in many places in Canada - from Winnipeg where I was born, to Montreal, then Toronto at age 8, where I grew up. University in Ottawa, then Kingston. Then the NWT for 3 years of teaching, followed by 3 years in Alberta, then back to Ontario, where I finished my career, in Brantford.
I have had a chance to travel a bit - to Scotland, Cayman island, the islands, Mexico for example. Hopefully we will travel some more.

ICAD #11 and New Art

Today is day eleven of ICAD (index card a day through "Daisy Yellow").
I planned to do another collage and then decided to do a tangle. I took a wonderful course in zentangles a couple of weeks ago and haven't had time to play so I did that tonight.
I used a gelli print background and a sharpie pen.

Inspiration Avenue

I was checking other challenges and at Inspiration Avenue  their new theme was up - "Birds".
My first step is to find a quote that fits the theme and that appeals to me. After about 30 quotes, I came across the one I used. It is so very true (and sad)

Collage
Last night I worked on a collage for "Anything but a Card".

The challenge was to dust of some old supplies and just create. I had brought some squares of tissue from school and had some old used  stamps, so I put the 2  together for this collage:

It started as a rainbow, but the colours just intermingled. A fun project indeed.

Once again I took a photo of a flower (actually several - but sharing my fav.)

Glue it Tuesday is forcing me to create a collage a week - just for fun, with no expectations - just create. It is the journey not the destination that is important.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

I have finally had a couple of days of being able to create some art. School and sore eyes (anyone got a cure for red, swollen, puffy eyes??).
I have worked on a few challenges and some cards.

Collage Obsession

This past week the theme at Collage Obsession was "Steps and Staircases". I wasn't inspired until today when I came across this staircase in a "homes" booklet. Then I found the quote and it fell into place, with a gelli paper background.

Monday is Victoria Day here in Canada so we have a lovely holiday. The weather was gorgeous today and even if there is rain, our flowers are bought and they will grow.

Glue it Tuesday

I had great fun this week creating some ATCS, that were pasted but not cut. |The cards were for a "Torn paper abstract collage" swap.
I love collage and abstract - and this also gave me a chance to use up smaller bits of gelli print papers.

Almost forgot about this new challenge at Artsyville! But I was playing with papers and rather
than throw out the small pieces I decided to just glue them down.

A new Collage to honour April

When I saw the new theme for "Inspiratiuon Avenue", I knew I what I would create. The theme "April" called for that old vers "April showers bring May flowers"

I have used my gelli plate prints and extras in a fun collage.

With Easter this weekend, I did not create much, as time with my husband all weekend, shopping on Saturday and entertaining on  Sunday made for a busy weekend. I will return with "Sunday Weekly Wrap-up next Sunday.

As I watched "The Voice" tonight (my new favourite show), I created this collage of painted papers for "Glue it Tuesday"

I love the idea of creating collages just for the fun of playing with papers. It is so freeing.

The first "Glue it Tuesday" at "Artsyville", where anything goes as long as there is cut and paste.
Another night of being awake past midnight! So what to do but create some art.

What I  had in mind when I started evolved into something totally different. I had planned to just glue bits of painted papers (created with the gelli plate of course!) down but I soon began to cut out flower shapes in honour of spring (which hasn't really sprung yet!)
