ART on Friday

Time once again to share what I have been working on the past week.
There have been several challenges I have participated in as well as a new yearly project I started last week.

Focus
Here is the new card I created for my OLW - FOCUS:

Sunday Postcard Art
The theme at Sunday Postcard Art is "wings".
I chose one of my favourite quotes as well as a photo of my daughter when she was around 4.

Take a Word Challenge
The theme at Take a Word Challenge is "botanical".

Art Journal Journey
The theme this month at Art Journal Journey is "Geometric Shapes"

ART on Friday

Well, March has begun and soon it will be spring. The weather this week has been a roller coaster - 3 days ago it was 15 C (about 60 F) and then, a day later it was minus weather with 2 inches of snow!

Here are some of the challenges I worked on this week:

Sunday Postcard Art
The theme this week at Sunday Postcard Art was "Altered Mona Lisa"
As I have been thinking spring, I thought this appropriate:

Tag Tuesday
At Tag Tuesday, the theme is "Spring Flowers"

Art Journal Journey
The theme at Art Journal Journey this month is "Spring".  This quote by Bernard Williams made me wish for hope for the world.

Mini Collage Book
Here's a quick collage using painted scraps.

ART on Friday

Another week, another sharing of art.

ICAD
This daily challenge from Daisy Yellow has been enjoyable. Simple collages yes, but using the prompts adds a bit of challenge. here are 3 from this week:

Art Journal Journey
The theme this month at Art Journal Journey is circles.
I started a new journal and when I found this quote, I knew it wasperfect for the challenge.

365 Challenge
I haven't been as consistent with this self challenge, but I have started again - making collages with used stamps. Here's the collages from this week.

WOYWW and Challenges

It is time once again for the weekly WOYWW - which Julia Dunnit hosts at "Stamping Ground"- and where we share our workspaces and what we are working on.

Today I was busy with some art challenges and by the time I was done my dining room table was a MESS!

Here are the 3 items I created for 3 challenges (with their theme):

Art Journal Journey - "50 Shades of Red"

I enjoy creating tags and when I found this copy of my Mom on her wedding day, I knew I wanted to create a card for her.

Try It on Tuesday - "Let's Get Messy"

Creating the background involved some very messy printing and painting and even using fingers. A lot of fun.

Go Tag Thursday - "Wheels/Cogs"

Time - for Challenges

This quote by Alice Morse Earle has always resonated with me and I thought it appropriate for the beginning of 2017.

"The clock is running. Make the most of today.
Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.
That's why it is called the present"

The piece began with a tissue rainbow (for "Try it On Tuesday"),
and I added old family photos that tell my story along the centre. (for "Art Journal Journey")
and finally added stencils of hearts and a dandelion. (for Mixed Media Monthgly Challenge")

Now I have a constant reminder to live each day fully and not worry about past or future.
Carpe Diem - seize the day!

WOYWW
And of course, I have to link with WOYWW - the weekly challenge hosted by Julia Dunnit at "Stamping Ground" - where we are encouraged to share what we are working on and the state of our work spaces.
Here's my art table downstairs right after I finished with the stencils and had yet to fully clean up:

Art on Friday

It's the end of the first week of February and time to share some of the art I have worked on this week.

Colour Me Positive
The new quote posted for this ongoing challenge is an important one.

It immediately made me think of the book "Wonder" - the amazing book by R.J. Palacio that spawned the "Choose Kind" movement. We definitely need more kindness in the world!

Art Tags
I have started a February challenge of hearts/love for my art tags. Here are the first 5:

(The music tag is for Art Journal Journey's challenge for February)

I also created a tag for ABC Wednesday for D - dog:

:

52 Card Pick-up
This week the theme was "Smile"
In some junk mail this week I found photos of smiling children - it was perfect for this week's APC.

29 Faces
I have tried this challenge at "Sojourner" before and enjoyed it, so I have taken on the "29 Faces" challenge. Here are a couple of my favourites from this week:

What challenges are you working on??

Art on Friday

This week both gratitude and a full moon inspired me to create journal pages.

Art Journal Journey
With American Thanksgiving this week and the theme of "autumn colours" at Art Journal Journey, I used inspiration from Valerie -Jael of  Bastelmania to create this page.

Full Frost Moon Dreamboard
I have returned to the practice of creating a dreamboard on the ful moon and find it valuable.
The question posed by Jamie Ridler " What dreams are becoming clear?" was the focus  as I gathered words and images,

This time I found several quotes that spoke to me used those to motivate me in the month ahead.

The theme of shifting gears struck me as necessary - changing what I do to achieve better results - not only in my writing but in my pursuit of better health.
The need to express my creativity came through as well.

Several om "One little Words" found there way on the dreamboard as well - as a reminder to seek joy, believe I can achieve, and bloom.

Art on Friday

Time to return to my weekly sharing - Art on Friday. It has been so good to return to (almost) daily art making.

This week I am joining in at Art Journal Journey where the month long theme is "TIME".
There were so many quotes on the theme that I couldn't choose just one. Here are 3 of my favourites:

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This past week has flown by. Hard to believe we are already in August!
Check here for the collages I created earlier in the week for Inspiration Ave.,Collage Obsession and Opus Gluei.
I have finished the ICAD project (check here for my overview) and started 2 new daily challenges!

1. Tangle a Day
Jane  Monk has inspired me to create a tangle a day on an index card for the month of August . Her project is to create a tangle a day for a year. Be sure to visit her blog - she creates such beautiful tangles.

I am slowly learning the different zentangles. Each day I am using the string she provided for that day and at least one new zentangle.
Here are the first 4:

(I used a sharpie rather than a micron pen and I am not as happy with the result. The backgrounds will be gelli papers as I like the effect of black on colour)

2. Daily Paper Prompt
Tammy at Daisy Yellow has a new challenge "the Daily Paper or Word Prompt. Each day she provides a word and we respond to it in any medium or technique. The index card were fun but I am using a large journal for this challenge. I am already behind!

Day 1: Rainbow

Day 2:  Window

I am also using this for "Square" - the challenge at Art Journal Journey.

ATCs
I also worked on some ATCS. (Some I did not scan.)
Here is the Lincoln APC.

I have been doing more reading and going through the Inner Excavation exercises. I have not finished the larger piece I started for Chapter 2. I will share it next week.
(As I share photos with several challenges,  I decided not to share any on Sunday so that the post did not go on and on and on!)
