Art on Friday

This week both gratitude and a full moon inspired me to create journal pages.

Art Journal Journey
With American Thanksgiving this week and the theme of "autumn colours" at Art Journal Journey, I used inspiration from Valerie -Jael of  Bastelmania to create this page.

Full Frost Moon Dreamboard
I have returned to the practice of creating a dreamboard on the ful moon and find it valuable.
The question posed by Jamie Ridler " What dreams are becoming clear?" was the focus  as I gathered words and images,

This time I found several quotes that spoke to me used those to motivate me in the month ahead.

The theme of shifting gears struck me as necessary - changing what I do to achieve better results - not only in my writing but in my pursuit of better health.
The need to express my creativity came through as well.

Several om "One little Words" found there way on the dreamboard as well - as a reminder to seek joy, believe I can achieve, and bloom.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This past week I was able to create some art and do some writing. I am taking part in the March Slice of Life at "Two Writing Teachers" which involves writing daily in March. It can be a challenge some days to find something to write about but I have been able to do that every day. You can check out my writing blog here.

Dreamboard/ Spring Intentions
My art this week centred around creating the March Full Moon Dreamboard and my spring intentions board. These practices have become very necessary and I refer to them throughout the month or season.

This is a section of my dreamboard - my two dreams.

My spring intentions board:

Collage
I created one collage just for fun. I save scraps of gelli papers and today I just needed to create a quick collage. Love the colours.

Firsts
I have not recorded first for a few weeks. I have not been as dedicated to pursuing firsts lately but the past  week I had a couple of firsts that hopefully will impact my writing career.

1.  I submitted a picture book manuscript and 4 chapters of a middle grade novel I am working on to an editor to be critiqued. I paid for this to be done and hopefully this will help me with revisions and continuing with the novel.

2. I joined two critique groups that will help with helping me edit and revise my work. One is for picture books and the other is for my historical middle grade novel.

I bought a picture book today and really enjoyed it. I saw the title and just had to buy "My Brave Year of Firsts" by Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell .
The last two pages of the book say it all about firsts:
   "  Some firsts just happen.
     Some come when I try.
     Some firsts make me smile.
     Some firsts make me cry.
.....first things first happen when I'm brave, true and strong."

Sunday Weekly Wrap-up

Finally - posting on a Sunday! I have had a busy few weeks, with writing and tutoring, so really haven't created much art. I've missed it though. Today I had some fun collaging and created a few pieces.

Full Worm Moon Dreamboard
Tonight is the full worm moon and I had to create my dreamboard. I wrote about it here, complete with the how to's of creating it.

Here are some of my dreams for the month ahead.

Journal 52/ One Word
I have been enjoying the weekly challenges at Journal 52 and have completed a couple of collages for the prompts. "Dream" is also one of the prompts at 'One Little Word".

Stars
I loved these quotes by Maya Angelou

and
Harriet Tubman

so created with both.

Colour Swatch inspiration:
My colours were orange and turquoise and I used gelli papers and another quote about dreaming - for the full moon!

Writing
I have been writing daily for the March Slice of Life  challenge at "Two Writing Teachers". It has been a challenge at times deciding what to write about, but I am enjoying it.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

Sunday Weekly Wrap-up (finally!)

Fall is definitely here. I love the colours - the trees seem much brighter this year.
It has been a few weeks since I blogged, although I have been visiting a few favourite bloggers.
I need to get back to routines though - I really missed taking part in challenges and hearing from people.
I have been creating - creating ATCs for ATCSforall has been a blessing. I have needed an outlet, and here are a few of the cards I have created over the past month.

 Haunted Houses

Peanuts

Watercolour Landscapes

I have been photographing as well. Here are a few of my favourites -

and of course, skies.

So. I'm back, once again.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

I have taken a long two week break from blogging. I did get away for a birthday cruise

and had a lovely time.

(The beach at Roatan)

This past week was a slow return to work and responsibilities. I now feel ready to get back into posting and blogging.

Art/Life Courses

I have started 2 courses that will run the whole year. Both focus on digging deep into ourselves and using art to help in that discovery. They are both very worthy courses.

(Check my sidebar for connecting with them)

Dreamboard

This past week began with the making of January's Full Wolf Moon Dreamboard. I introduced the concept (rather than resolutions) to my third grade class and they so enjoyed creating their own dreamboards.

Jamie Ridler had us ask: "What am I hungry for?"

As I created my dreamboard words and inages were easy to find

In the month and year ahead I seek to pursue good health and to just "go for it". Art, books, and photography are necessary for me.

It is a wonderful life and I have to hold onto that.

I also have to really focus on decluttering this year.
