ART on Friday

Hard to believe it is already the first of June. Where has the time gone?

Here are a few pieces I worked on this week - for some challenges.

ICAD
ICAD is a yearly challenge in June and July, is also a daily challenge using index cards. I've taken part now for several years and really enjoy this. Daisy Yellow provides themes and ideas and lots of help to spark your creativity.
This week the theme is on using letters, font, words.
My first card is a focus on what I hope to accomplish this month:

Sunday Postcard Art

The theme for Sunday Postcard Art is "Faces". Took me longer to find so many faces than to create the card!

Take a Word Challenge

For Take a Word Challenge, the theme is "Two". I tried different pairs, but settled on roses.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge
This will be the last challenge for Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. The theme this month is "Wrap It Up"

Time - for Challenges

This quote by Alice Morse Earle has always resonated with me and I thought it appropriate for the beginning of 2017.

"The clock is running. Make the most of today.

Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. 

Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. 

That's why it is called the present"

The piece began with a tissue rainbow (for "Try it On Tuesday"),
and I added old family photos that tell my story along the centre. (for "Art Journal Journey")
and finally added stencils of hearts and a dandelion. (for Mixed Media Monthgly Challenge")

Now I have a constant reminder to live each day fully and not worry about past or future.

It is that time of the week to share some of the art I have been creating this week.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge/ Art Tags

My 356 day challenge for myself continues - with creating art tags on the theme of "Blooms and Butterflies" for the May challenge at MMMC.

I also created a tag for the ABC Wednesday challenge - r is for raindrops.

Colour Me Positive
The weekly challenge at LuLu Art  continues with a focus on "wonder".
I used my own photos as a backdrop for the quote.

ATCs
I created one set of APCs for a swap -with the theme of flowers and butterflies as well.

Photography
The flowers are blooming so of course I had to take a few photos of them this week.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge

This month's theme at MMMC is "Butterflies and Blooms" - a great theme for May.
I had decided to create flower tags for my own art tag 365 challenge. Here are a couple from this week:

Colour Me Positive
This week the theme is "Balance" for the challenge at "LuLuArt"

(For both the tags and the journal page, I tried using painted dictionary pages as the background.)

In addition to the flower tags above, I also created a "question" tag for ABC Wednesday.

Heart Tags and Challenges

There are a number of challenges this week and month that have the theme of hearts. As I am making heart tags for February, I thought I would join in the fun with these challenges:

Mixed Media Mojo:
Theme of hearts, with the twist of paper piecing. The bigger heart has been pieced from gelli paper scraps.

Try it on Tuesdays
The theme is "A Fine Romance" and I knew my parents wedding photo was perfect for this challenge.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge
The theme is glitter. I overdid it. But since the phrase on the card is "joyful heart" this card does look a bit joyful!
