ART on Friday

Here we are on the first Friday of February and time for ART on Friday.
Here are few things I've worked on this week.

Dreamboard
With the full moon on January 31, I created a dreamboard, to focus on what deep dreams I hope will be brought to the surface in the coming month. The power of this full moon seemed to be magnified as it was a super moon, a blue moon and an eclipse. I hope that translates into more power to my dreamboard!

More is my OLW and I really want to do more and be more. May February bring it on!

Challenges
I enjoy taking part in the many challenges online. Here are several I have participated in this week:

Sunday Postcard Art
The theme at Sunday Postcard Art was travel.

Take a Word Challenge
The theme at Take a Word Challenge was "Just an Old Fashioned Girl. The quote is one I need to remember.

Tag Tuesday
The theme at Tag Tuesday is "Have a heart"

29 Faces
Once again there is a monthly challenge for February - creating 29 Faces.
Here are my first two.

What challenges have you participated in?

ART on Friday (shared on Saturday!)

Some weeks, just getting to share at all is okay, even if it is a day late.
Here are a few things I have been working on this week:

Colour Me Positive
This week the challenge at LuLu Art was being grateful. I try most days to lest a few things I am grateful for - it really does lift your mood.

Challenges

Sunday Postcard Art
I have started to take part in this challenge and the theme is "Poetry". As I looked through the words I had cut out, it struck me that many focused on what life is - so the poem is "Life is..."

ABC Wednesday
For I this week, I created a card for Internation Women's Day:

The Collage Workbook

ART on Friday - on Saturday

This week has sped by and was quite busy. Every day my husband and I attended a workshop on heart health - to help him with his cardiac rehab. I have learned so much this week - from medications, to stress management and foods. But the information is helpful and hopefully will ensure my husband improves.
I did some art this week but not as much as I would have liked. Here is a look at wy work this week:

Colour Me Positive
This week the theme from LuLu Art was on how we treat pople. How appropriate, after the terrible treatment of Muslims by Trump and Co. What was heartening was seeing the demonstrations against the "Muslim Ban" all across the U.S. and around the world. Even our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, offered refuge for those effected by the ban.
Here is my journal spread:

The Collage Workbook
I only worked on one project this week - #28 Flora. I'm definitely enjoying the projects from this book, and assessing my work after they are done.
I love flowers and have al ot of floral paper and stamps.
Here are the 4 cards I created:

Project 365
This week I created feathers with zens on them - a relaxing project.
Here are the last 4:

Challenges
This week I created a couple of pieces for challenges:

Tag Tuesday: Pebbles and Stones

ART on Friday

Hard to believe we are near the end of February! We now have snow on the ground but warmer weather is predicted for this weekend.
Here are a few things I have been working on this past week:

Colour Me Positive
This weekly challenge from LuLuArt is enjoyable and one I look forward to each week.
The quote this week made me think of my children and so i searched from of their photos from when they were young. The quote also made me think about Picasso's famous one about remaining an artist. The challenge also encouraged us to use circles.

Here is a look at each half:

Art Tags
I am still creating the art tags for my 366 day challenge - a few more heart ones for February. Here are 2 of my favs. from this week:

I also created a new tag for the ABC Wednesday challenge - g for giraffe. I carved the stamp and created a tag.

29 Faces
I haven't created a face a day for this challenge but I have been able to create a few a week. Here are a couple I sketched:

What challenges are you working on this month and next?

Art on Friday

This is my first Art on Friday for 2016. I thought it was an opportunity to share some of the projects/challenges I am planning to work on this year. (I'm including links if you'd like to participate in any of them)

In Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's recent blog post she shared 5 reason why she does art challenges. Two really spoke to me:
*Connects me with a community of other artists.
*Reminds me that regular practice really does lead to skills improvement.

Tag a Day
For 2016 I am creating a tag a day from scrap papers - handmade, painted, bits and pieces. Here are my latest:

January Boxes
I had seen an art project of a page of boxes and loved the idea of a box a day - to capture simple collages, found pictures or stamps. Here's the first 8 days:

Paper, Paint, Pencils, Pens!
I joined this community and try to take part in their twice monthly challenges.
Jan. 1 -15 the them is self-portrait.
Here's my watercolour self-portrait from a photo taken in 1998.(Don't you just love those glasses?? lol)

Colour Me Positive
I joined in with this weekly journalling challenge and am enjoying the change to work with quotes and art. Each Friday a new quote is posted and we are asked to respond.
Here is my first journal spread, with the theme gratitude:

Let's Play
Carolyn Dube is hosting a challenge this year to just play. The first week she asked us to use found materials.
For my project, I included used stamps and words cut from mail and magazine inserts to be recycled. A quick, fun  project.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

Time for my weekly sharing of creative work from the past week.
I am really enjoying the challenges I have begun and also the new Slice of Life challenge for March. Pushing myself to meet goals is proving to be morale boosting! They have really inspired me to create.
