This is my first Art on Friday for 2016. I thought it was an opportunity to share some of the projects/challenges I am planning to work on this year. (I'm including links if you'd like to participate in any of them)
In Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's recent
blog post she shared 5 reason why she does art challenges. Two really spoke to me:
*Connects me with a community of other artists.
*Reminds me that regular practice really does lead to skills improvement.
Tag a Day
For 2016 I am creating a tag a day from scrap papers - handmade, painted, bits and pieces. Here are my latest:
January Boxes
I had seen an art project of a page of boxes and loved the idea of a box a day - to capture simple collages, found pictures or stamps. Here's the first 8 days:
Paper, Paint, Pencils, Pens!
I joined this community and try to take part in their twice monthly challenges.
Jan. 1 -15 the them is self-portrait.
Here's my watercolour self-portrait from a photo taken in 1998.(Don't you just love those glasses?? lol)
Colour Me Positive
I joined in with
this weekly journalling challenge and am enjoying the change to work with quotes and art. Each Friday a new quote is posted and we are asked to respond.
Here is my first journal spread, with the theme gratitude:
Let's Play
Carolyn Dube is hosting a challenge this year to just play. The first week she asked us to use found materials.
For my project, I included used stamps and words cut from mail and magazine inserts to be recycled. A quick, fun project.
