Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

I have finally had a couple of days of being able to create some art. School and sore eyes (anyone got a cure for red, swollen, puffy eyes??).
I have worked on a few challenges and some cards.

Collage Obsession

This past week the theme at Collage Obsession was "Steps and Staircases". I wasn't inspired until today when I came across this staircase in a "homes" booklet. Then I found the quote and it fell into place, with a gelli paper background.

This is the collage I created for "Glue It Tuesday". I used collage bits from my gelli papers  and just glued - a fun thing to do!

I created 2 sets of ATCs today:

Monday is Victoria Day here in Canada so we have a lovely holiday. The weather was gorgeous today and even if there is rain, our flowers are bought and they will grow.

Happy May 2 - 4!

Sunday Weekly Wrap-up and Color This Quote

This past week I was able to complete a few challenges as well as some ATCs.

Color This Quote

Artists in Blogland hosts a fun monthly challenge, based on a quote.
This month the new quote was from Pablo Picasso:
"Every act of creation is first an act of destruction."

As I thought about the quote, I realized that whenever I do a collage I first must tear or cut up paper and images before I begin. So I used some gelli papers and tore them into pieces. then I created a sky/ground.

The image I then used was of a butterfly. Its metamorphosis is an act of destruction to create this beautiful creature.

Collages - I created 2 collages for 2 favourite challenges this week. Check them out here.

ATCs
I created several ATCs this week for different swaps:

Mandalas

A new swap  of a  hand - this was my zen henna hand

Joy Cards
I created 3 joy cards this week - 2 very simple ones, one with a message I need to take to heart.

Photography
With the lovely weather the past few days, I was able to get out and get some flower photos. Here are a few.

Hope you have a wonderfully creative week!

Sunday Weekly Wrap-up

This weekend has been lovely - with sunshine, warmer weather and so much green appearing. Spring has sprung finally!

I created several collages this week for different challenges. (Check prevuious posts for a look at them)

JOY Cards
This morning though, I created several more joy cards and these ssyings really speak to me about this new season.

These are actually quite small - business card size. They are a reminder to me to keep joy in my life.

ATCs

I have been working on a number of swaps as well.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This morning I needed to create. I started with a simple collage of gifted papers from other bloggers:

then worked on the Alpha Dictionary challenge from The Craft Barn. The letter this round is "R".

Yesterday we had attended the celebration of the life of Joanne, the sister of a dear friend. I knew her and always admired her. |She died at only 62. Joanne was a teacher as well and lived her life with faith and love.
This collage is in memory of her - she was a true original, always lived true to her faith. (The rose is from her celebration bulletin)

 Last week I worked on

Joy Cards

Photography
I have finally gotten out with my camera and taken some photos - of skies mostly this week.

But I did get one of a robin - a clear sign of spring for me!

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This is the last day of March Break! This week has gone by so quickly. I did not do much art but spent more time with my husband. We were able to relax and rest - something we both needed to do.

Collage

I was able to create a fun collage for Collage Obsession. The challenge there this week was fairy tales. Mine was a bit different but seemed to just create itself. - first with the writing of the story and then the artwork. Here is a description of it.

i also created a collage for ABC Wednesday, a fun weekly challenge based on the letters of the alphabet. This past week's letter was I (I was for imbrication - overlapping layers!)

Joy Cards
The most fun was creating more joy cards. I found several great quotes this week and they ended up on cards.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

Sunday again and I am squeezing in some computer time before we have a birthday celebration for one of my step-daughters.

I have actually had a very creative week, especially the past few days. It feels so good to play around with painted papers and collage elements. T

Here are some of the creations from this past week:

For Collage Obsession (the theme was "Double Vision"

For Artists in Blogland  (Alpha Dictionary Challenge - M)

M for mandala

Joy Cards

A favourite quote by Stephen Leacock (a remarkable Canadian writer)

And 2 quotes by Mark twain

ATCs

The most fun though was Friday night and Saturday, when I took part in a Stamp-a-thon through ATCsforAll. We had to use used stamps in our creations which could be anything - ATCs, larger pieces (the  world one above was done as part of this) I made well over 20 pieces - most were for swaps which thus served 2 purposes.
Here are just a few:

Dogs

These were my favourite ones - most of the backgrounds are from playing with the gelli plate.

Sunday Weekly Wrap-up

This past week has been another week of longer times to create. Friday was a bonus day as schools were closed because of the "monster" storm. I am so glad I did not have to drive my usual 30 min. on snow-covered roads.
I completed a challenge for Collage Obsession (see my post here)  as well as the following:

Gelli Prints
I can't get enough of creating with the gelli plate. I have tried different stencils and found objects. I now use these papers for most of my backgrounds.

Carolyn Dube has an excellent tutorial and fun gelli plate parties to take part in. \be sure to visit here for more information.

ATCs
I finished off  3 sets of ATCs:

Photo cards for a PAT

Bird Postage stamp swap

Joy cards
I created a few more cards for my "word of the year" JOY:

I am also continuing a project I started awhile ago - action cards. I had originally made them fairly large, but as I have so many old business cards, I thought I would crate them in the joy card size.

Photography
I couldn't resist getting out in the snow yesterday with my camera . That snow was beautiful.

Footprints in the snow:

Looking across the street at all the piles of snow  - including our plowed in driveway

Gung Hey Fat Chow and happy Valentine's Day!

 Have a wonderful week!
