ART on Friday (on Saturday!)

Yesterday flew by with appointments and resting from a cold. So here now are a few things I worked on this week.

Sunday Postcard Art
The theme this week at Sunday Postcard Art was "hands"
Here's my postcard:

Journal Page

I had collected a few other quotes so thought I'd create a journal page for hands as well:

Take a Word Challenge
The theme at Take a Word Challenge was "Flight"

29 Faces
I have been very slack about drawing faces this week. Here is my favourite:

Harvest Full Moon Dreamboard
Iused to create a full moon dreamboard every month a few years ago. I found it a valuable exercise to focus on dreams and wishes for the month ahead. Jamie Ridler hosts classes in creating dramboards.
The question to focus on while creating the dreamboard was " What dreams do you wish to bring to fruition? Here was my response.

ART on Friday

Another week has sped by and it is time once again to share a few pieces I have completed this week.
I enjoy several challenges which post themes either weekly or monthly. It gives an opportunity to challenge oneself and interact with other bloggers.

Sunday Postcard Art
The theme this week at Sunday Postcard Art  was "Books and Reading" - one of my favourite pastimes/passions.

Linking this postcard as well with More Mixed Media Challenge - with the theme "Anything Goes"

Tag Tuesday
The theme for the next two weeks at Tag Tuesday is "Paris". I've never been but would love to go sometime. I studied French all the way through school and having passing ability.

29 Faces
Here are the last 3 faces I have drawn for the challenge at "29 Faces"

Mini Scrap Notebook
Here are 2 collages I did this week in my small collage notebook:

Full Moon Dreamboard
This week there was a full moon and I decided it was necessary to create a full Moon dreamboard for the Full Harvest Moon.
Jamie Ridler hosts monthly dreamboard creations and the question she encourages us to focuson during the creation of it was:
"What dreams do you wish to bring to fruition?"

As I searched through my stash of words and images,  I was surprised to find several of my past OLW - Shine, Joy,Bloom, as well as the word for this year - Cultivate.
With just a few more months til the end of the year, it is well past time to cultivate those dreams - creativity, health, faith and home.

ART on Friday

Time for my weekly art share.

The Collage Workbook
I made a decision that this year I would pull some of my art books off the shelf and actually work through them. The first book  is "The Collage Workdbook" by Randel Plowman and so far I am enjoying the projects. The subtitle really describes the book - "how to get started and stay inspired".
My first project was to do 5 cards (I used 3x5 index cards), spending 5 minutes on each. A fun, quick project:

I also need to get rid of the many magazines I have - a vice I have! - so I used these to pull images and words and colours.

The next project was to create cards of one colour, in different tints and shades. I did 6:

Colour Me Positive
This week at LuLu Art, the theme is discipline.
I did a very random, inked background and then stamped some very regular borders, before adding the quote for the week.

Full Moon Dreamboard
Yesterday, was the full wolf moon and I have decided to take part once again, in the monthly creation of a dreamboard.
The question I focused on as I created it was "What am I hungry for?"

Art Quote Cards
A new round of ABC Wednesday began this week and I decided to create "Speak Out" cards as I feel we all must do our part in speaking out against racism, bigotry, homophobia, prejudice of any kind.
Here are the first two:

There's still time to join in with this fun weekly challenge - so many ways to take part - art, photography, stories, etc. Check here for more info.

365 Sketches
Here are the latest daily sketches for my 365 project - I decided to focus on flowers.

ABC Wednesday - P and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, P is our letter of focus.

P is for - photo collage.I have a bag of photo scraps that I grabbed and created this quick photo collage.

Once that one was done I remembered the challenge at Art Journal Journey where the theme was "Architecture". The old buildings, especially the churches, in Cambridge are gorgeous and I had a lot of photo scraps of these buildings..

Be sure to check here to see how others around the world met the challenge this week.

WOYWW

Time to share our work spaces for WOYWW - the weekly challenge at "Stamping Ground", hosted by Julia Dunnit.

Creating the photo challenges above, I worked on my dining room table. You can see the pile of photo scraps.

In the top right corner is my dramboard journal. I really do need to create a better cover!
It is the Full Hunter's moon and I created a dreamboard for the month ahead. I find this practice to be a very visual way to express my dreams for what I seek. (Check here for more details, where I wrote about it on my writing blog)

Full Flower Moon Dreamboard

Tonight is the Full Flower Moon and time to create a dreamboard for the month ahead.
Jamie Ridler has hosted the creation of  dreamboards at her blog for a long time and now holds classes to create dreamboards.
I have created them for several years and always found them a worthwhile exercise. Focusing on questions helps to focus on what the month ahead will bring.
This month the questions are:
How do you wish to bloom?    What is flourishing and blooming in your life?

I sifted through papers and words, until I had a small pile. Then I began to lay the elements down in my journal. Here is the finished dreamboard:

Bloom is my "One Little Word" and it certainly fits for this month. My focus continues to be writing and art but as well, healthy living and embracing joy.

Full Pink Moon Dreamboard

I used to create full moon dreamboards regularly for several years and found them a way to look to the month ahead. I still create a dreamboard for each new season.
Jamie Ridler hosts the creations of dreamboards and much information to create them

This month I decided I needed to renew this tradition - to focus on the questions as I pulled phrases, words and pictures and then create a dreamboard.April 4th was the Full Mink Moon.

This month I focused on these questions:

What dreams need tending?   What is stirring in your heart?

This is the board I created:

Bloom is my OLW and after a webinar last night on Maya Angelou the phrase "Dream Big" kept playing in my mind. It made it to the dreamboard. I aim to write and create daily.

I need to embrace healthy habits and dance more. But I must embrace or seize the day - carpe diem!

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

First Sunday of the new year! First weekly wrap-up. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.I needed the long break and am now ready to return to my blog.

I take part in ROW 80 - a writing challenge that provides support and accountability. It helped my writing last year. There are 4  rounds of 80 days and at the beginning of each round, you set the writing goals you want to achieve. My goals are here.

If it works for my writing, I thought why not for my art? So after I wrote my goals for writing today, I wrote out what I want to achieve in my art for the next 80 days.

1.Create daily.
2. Work on stamp/quote cards.
3. Work on zentangles through "Let's Tangle" by Kathleen Murray
4. Work through "Sketch This" - might be fun to have a similar community sharing as "Wreck This Journal" hosted by Jamie Ridler (more later)
5.Go through 3 art/craft books - one a month and try a weekly project from the books.
6. Create collages for my picture book script.
7. Work on using up as many of my supplies as possible!

What goals are you working on?

One Little Word
Many people chose a word for the year. Mine is BLOOM. Here is a post I wrote on choosing it.

Full Wolf Moon Dreamboard
Tonight is the Full Wolf Moon and once again I have created a dreamboard. The question for consideration was: "What are you hungry for?"

I want to grow as a writer and artist this year. I have dabbled for too long. I need to step out and work harder and seek opportunities.

I was even able to include my last 2 words - embrace and joy!

Winter Vision Board
Just before Christmas I created my vision board (winter intentions) for the winter season. I have been doing this for some time. and along with the monthly dreamboards help focus on what I want to accomplish.

ATCs
Over the holidays I created a few sets of ATCs. I have a few swaps left to complete and then I plan to take a break from taking part in swaps. The postage has gone up and I have many other projects I want to complete.

Gelli prints with stamps

Bird APcs (6s)

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

I missed last Sunday as I spent the day driving home from Montreal - an eight hour trip. We had spent almost a week there, attending my father-on-law's funeral and being with family.

Small Zens
In the car, I actually made a few more small zen cards (on old business cards - great way to use them up).

They were relaxing and fun to do.

Practicing Gratitude
This is a new challenge through Bernice at "Newly Creative". I had started this challenge at the beginning of the month but am now returning to it. This is the 2nd day - "Creative" - using plastic wrap on wet paint.

Here is the background I created:

Then I added photos of what I am thankful for and 2 quotes.

(This journal page is also being linked for Journal 52 - using photographs)

Full Flower Moon Dreamboard
The 14th was the full flower moon and I finally created a dreamboard. The question to focus on was"
"How do you wish to bloom?"

Writing and art are where I want to bloom, but as well I want to thrive and live my best life.

ATCs
I was able to make some Heart Inchies:

Photography
Spring brings flowers and here are a few more from our gardens:
