A to Z April Challenge - BE

Today is B for the A to Z April Challenge.
My theme is using affirmations – with quotes, links and inspiring words and people to support the affirmation.

B is for BE.

“To be or not to be” – how many of you have memorized those immortal words from Shakespeare? We have all at some time wondered who we are and what our purpose is.

There are so many things we can BE – as Shirley MacLaine says – we should “Just Be.”

There are so many books and articles on how to be happy, successful, funny, desirable – the lists goes on and on. But we all have to decide for ourselves who we will be.

Make your own list of what you would include. Being your true self is a good first one for me.

Who is right – Socrates or Sartre?  Or both?
To be is to do’ —Socrates      To do is to be’—Jean Paul Sartre

Be sure to check here to see what others from around the world have done for B.

Confused. I always used to be firmly in the Sartre camp but now I sometimes wonder if doing is not sometimes a way of avoiding being--keeping busy to avoid thinking about knotty problems.

I should be an actions speak louder than words sort of person but sadly the actions so often fall short of who one wants to be. :-(

It's a wonderful thing to get back in touch with your artistic side. And enjoy beauty and silence ... what's that? ... and just be. Thank you for the reminder to climb off the hamster wheel of busy and enjoy the moment.
