Wreck That Journal

Another week and more wrecking.

I think I had just as much fun visiting all the other blogs and discovering what a wonderful wrecking crew we have as I did playing.

The problem with visiting is that too often it led to detours to other places which led to more detours! There is so much creativity -one person's responses to a page inspires you to try something new and different.

Collage is my favourite form of creation. So the first page I tackled this week was the "white" page. As I looked in a magazine for white things, I kept seeing 4 letter words. A light went off! Okay - I would collage words.

Next I traced my open hand. When I looked at it I realized the opposite is a closed fist, so I did that as well and brainstormed words for both.

I also added business items and added the magazine page.

There were other pages started -1 coninuous line; adding stamps and fruit stickers, making circles.

I'm still having difficulty truly defacing the book - taking it for a walk, slinging food at it, taking it into the shower, or adding dirt.

At least I haven't given it a name!

I will try to get more destructive and "down and dirty" in the weeks to come.

How smart to make the four letter words a collage! I know it's hard to do the destructive things to the journal, but once you do one, there is no looking back :)

Yah, I'm so happy to see your office supplies collage! I was stuck on that one -- staple and whiteout was all I could think. But your post and another blogger this week -- you two really let me bust the block on that one!! Lovely wrecking you are doing...Happy wrecking to you for the coming week...

Fab wreckage!!

I'm blocked with the SEVERE DEFACEMENT too...or perhaps I'm a little bit afraid of the Wreck Monster that I will unleash once I start....;)

If you can't yet bear to deface, be a rebel instead and let your collage overlap the pages. I did that with mine and it was most satisfying. I now have an oddly shaped journal. I plan on taking it for a walk this weekend (at the moment carefully but I will try really hard to take it on some rough stuff!)

You are still wrecking and it is beautiful! Don't be looking at what others are doing and feeling that you are not doing enough... What you are doing is beautiful and it is yours. Celebrate it *grin*

Give the Journal a name? Hmmm, I didn't think of that. Cool. I love the 4 letter word collage. See there's another idea I'd like to use. I've already done my 4 word page though. Thanks!!

Good job! 4 letter word collage is genius! I've never done an art collage - always seemed a cheat to me to use someone else's material and reassemble it but seeing so much in so many others' work that I'm anxious to give it a go - got distracted even when I was magazine rummaging the other day. A spark?

This is just the warm up so far. By the end of the wreckerageing your book will probably have more than one name -- and not all of them pretty. ;) Wreck on!!!

I'm having a great time, too visiting other blogs and getting detoured. It's great inspiration and the only problem for me is I'm not getting to my own creative play. Clearly, you ARE!! Happy Wrecking!!

Like many of us, one of the most exciting about this journey is the detours happen along the way while we read our blog posts! Who knew that the world was so full of brilliant and amazing creative women! I mean, i knew, but it's nice to see more of it!

Way to continue with this journey!

best,
Lisa
