AEDM- Day 1

November brings AEDM - Art Every Day Month - the fun challenge hosted at Creative Every Day by  Leah Piken Kolidas.
I am in desperate need of an infusion of art and creativity and Leah's challenge is one I have done many times. I am determined to create daily - I have missed this outlet for some time.

Day1
I saw a 30 day challenge issued by ATStamps, creating small stamps (4.5 cm x 6 cm). I did not have the "MY Stamp" to create the stamp, so I carved my own. It made me realize how long it has been since I carved a stamp - so it is a bit wonky!

The theme for today was "Animals". I may not continue the whole month with this stamp challenge but it got me going today.

I also want to work with felt; do some beading; do some watercolour and work in a journal with quotes. Lots of ideas to keep me busy.

ABC Wednesday - T is for Thanks

This week at ABC Wednesday, T gets the nod.
This week is also Thanksgiving in the US.

So - T is for Thanks and Thanksgiving.

This week at ABC Wednesday, the letter of the week is Q.

Q is for Quill

A quill can either be: a sharp barbed hair of a porcupine or a writing instrument.

ABC Wednesday - P is for Pen

This week ABC Wednesday, the letter of choice is P.

P is for Pen - often considered mightier than the sword.

Except in these authoritarian times, despots are trying to desperately silence the pens of those who oppose their despotic regimes.

The pen must be used to give voice to the voiceless and the oppressed. The pen must point  with truth to the unjust oppressors who are trying o take away the rights of minorities.

Truth and democracy will prevail.

ABC Wednesday - O is for Oyster

This week at ABC Wednesday, we have arrived at the letter O.

O is for Oyster - that sea creature that creates pearls. Many people love to eat raw oysters - sorry, but I am not one of them!

ABC Wednesday - M is for Mask

This week at ABC Wednesday, M is our focus.

M is for Mask -which has several meanings. With Hallowe'en soon here, masks will be in abundance, from simple ones to cover the eyes, or ones to hide a face

To mask  means to conceal or disguise.

In art, a mask is used as a screen.

For health reasons, we wear a mask to protect and for sleep, we use a C-PAP to help keep our airways open.

I could not choose just one quote - so I created 4. art tags with my mask carved stamp:

ABC Wednesday - L is Lighthouse

This week at ABC Wednesday, L is the star.

L is for Lighthouse. There is something special about a lighthouse - that its light pierces the night and fog and protects those on the water. Throughout the Maritimes there are numerous lighthouses still operating and more that are being protected.

ABC Wednesday -I is for Igloo

This week at ABC Wednesday, I is the letter of focus.

I is for igloo - the winter structure built from snow blocks by the Inuit.

It is an amazing feat of ingenuity - to create a warm abode from snow and ice, and usually in a relatively short time. Inuit  still use igloos when hunting.

F is for Fence

Fences are a barrier and keep things out  but they also keep us in. Here's the art tag I created for this week:

ABC Wednesday - D

This week at ABC Wednesday, D is the letter of the week.

D is for Diamond - usually considered a girl's best friend.

But it is also shows what pressure can do - it can be destructive but pressure also created diamonds.
The tag I created show how precious metals/gems are created - just as we are often refined by the pressures and stresses of life.

ABC Wednesday - C is for Crayon

This week at ABC Wednesday, the letter of  focus is C.

C is for crayon.

Crayons are a necessary art tool for young artists and still enjoyable for adults.

Yet, the nature of the variety of crayons and colours lends itself to life and the quote I used reflects this.

The following quotes reflect this as well:
