ART on Friday
The past few weeks I have been sharing some of my weekly art on Fridays, taking part in several fun challenges/memes. For a long time I had shared my art on Sundays, but I always found myself rushing late to post. Today I decided that I would begin a more formal sharing on Friday, under the heading "ART on Friday".
Journal
While searching for quotes this week for another project, I found these and knew it was meant to be. With the rainbow I saw on Wednesday, it seemed the perfect inspiration for this journal spread.
(Joy quote by Robert Wagner)
Bloom is my One Little Word this year and I felt that I needed the reminder that I really do need to bloom - it is that time of the year when flowers blossom and share their best. I have to as well.
Faces for "Show Your Face"
I have been enjoying the weekly challenge at Kim Dellow's blog to share faces on Friday. It has forced me to work on faces - whether sketching or painting. Here are 2 I sketched.
Collage Obsession
It has been a while since I participated in the challenges at Collage Obsession. Their theme this week was "Stamps". ICAD (hosted by Daisy Yellow) returns on Monday for 60 days and to warm up I created these 3 small collages - using similar materials, as well as a used stamp and stamps I carved.

Photo Challenges
Time to share skies.. This morning the cloud cover was grey - hopefully we will get some much needed rain today.
Yesterday though, the clouds were lovely and I was even able to capture part of a rainbow (after 10 minutes of rain!)
Be sure to check here to see wonderful skies from around the world.
Other Photo Challenges
The theme for the "Thursday Challenge" is "fun" - sports, silly things, games, etc.
Egg race at a family reunion!
At "Little Things Thursday" the challenge to share those little things that mean so much. Besides family, the flowers in our gardens continue to move me.
(Seeing the rainbow, shown above, yesterday was pretty special as well.)

WOYWW and ABC Wednesday - T
This week at ABC Wednesday, the letter T is the focus.
T is for triangles and tissue paper.
and also
typography (From Wikipedia: "Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language readable and appealing."
Be sure to check here for how others around the world approached T.
WOYWW
It is that time of the week when we share our workspaces at Julia's blog "Stamping Ground".
As I worked on the spread above, my table was covered in tissue.
Layer after layer was added over two days, with more and more materials building up around the journal.
The final layer was the quote - tied into typography.
The quote is by Paul Standard and seemed appropriate:
"Geometry can produce legible letters but art alone makes them
beautiful. Art begins where geometry
ends, and imparts to letters a character
transcending mere measurement."
I learned something about layering with this spread - the cut up words needed to be placed first, then the tissue! Then the quote would have had more emphasis.

Shadow Shot Sunday
Earlier we had frost warning (0C) but now the sun is out and the temperature has jumped to 13C - a tad warmer. I put our small plants back out - maybe we will finally be able to get our flowers and plant them today!
Here are a few shadows:

PPF / Art it Friday
Paint Party Friday and Art it Friday
Once again I'm joining Paint Party Friday
and "Show Your Face" at Kim Dellow's blog.
and sharing two faces I created.
The first was in watercolour - using a magazine model.
I then used the same model for my journal page, in acrylics, but wasn't as happy with the results.
The quote is one by Jean Luc Picard and it is dead on.
"Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived."

Photo Challenges
I couldn't resist the sky this evening - 8 o'clock and it is stilllight and the clouds were lovely.
Be sure to check here for lovely skies from around the world.
Other Photo Challenges
At "Thursday Challenge" the theme is spring - and I had to share the lilies of the valley that have bloomed.
For "Little Things Thursday", here are some water droplets after I watered the lilies of the valley.

WOYWW and ABC Wednesday - S
This week at ABC Wednesday, the letter is S.
S is for stamps and stencils.
For this journal page, I gessoed pages in an old music book, used the large writing stamp on the left in four spots and then used a stencil to add the word "Create" and then some flowers with modeling paste.
Stencils and stamps can be used in so many ways - and they are fun to use.
WOYWW
Time for the weekly sharing of our workspaces at Julia's "Stamping Ground" for WOYWW.
By the time I was finished the journal page, I had letter stamps and stencils, inkpads and daubers scattered around it.
While I let the first layers dry, I looked for a quote about creating and discovered this one by Dejan Stojanovic - it seemed appropriate.
One thing I did learn was to wait for the modeling paste to dry!

Faces
Art it Friday - Paint Party Friday
Once again joining in "Show Your Face" at Kim Dellow's blog
and "Paint party Friday"
and sharing two faces I created.
The first is one in my journal with acrylic paint. I again used a magazine model but had a challenge with the eyes this time. This quote by Confucius is one I hold dear.
The second is a watercolour portrait, again using a magazine model.

Photo Challenges
Skies are the focus today at "Sky Watch Friday". They have beautiful this week - with dark and white clouds filling the skies.
Here are a couple of shots taken this week.
Other Thursday Photo Challenges:
"Thursday Challenge - the theme this week is peaceful and for me, enjoying the beauty in my gardens is always peaceful
For "Little Things Thursday", flowers are always a joy. The last of the tulips and trilliums still provide beauty.

ABC Wednesday
This week letter R reigns supreme at ABC Wednesday
R is for: red, recycled paper and rubberbands.
I took an old playing card, wrapped rubber bands around it, then dabbed red paint on it. I also used a recycled envelope and used a rubber band for printmaking on it.
Be sure to check here for how others around the world focus on R.
