ABC Wednesday - U and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, U takes centre stage.

U is for ugly art.

I tried, I really tried, to make some ugly art.
First was a layer of paper scraps, just glued randomly.

Then I splatted paint onto the papers and spread it around, and using plastic wrap to move it around some more.

Finally, I added a quote - one that took me some time to find. Several on bad artists though!

It may not be the ugliest piece, but I enjoyed the process - something I always encouraged in my students.

Be sure to check here to see how others around the world tackled the U challenge.

WOYWW

IT's that time of the week to share our work spaces for WOYWW - that fun meme hosted at "Stamping Ground" by Julia Dunnit.

The first photo shows the pole of papers and supplies I used to create the collage in my journal. (For these tasks I work at my dining room table.)

For the second task, I worked at my art table in the basement - don't have to worry about the mess of paint here.

ABC Wednesday - I and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, I is the letter of focus.

I is for inks and ink pad.

Here is the journal spread after several steps:

Spread gesso on altered book pages
Ink spray on top
Put a stencil down and spray

On the right side, I used a lino cut of a celtic knot I carved to stamp on the page.

Be sure to check here to see what others around the world chose for I.

WOYWW

Every week, Julia Dunnit at "Stamping Ground" hosts the fun meme "WOYWW" - a place where we share our work spaces and what we are working on.

Once I had used the ink sprays, I took a photo of my art table:

Then I used the stamps and added a quote on each page.

Here is a close up of each page:

ABC Wednesday - P and WOYWW

This week the focus is on P for ABC Wednesday.

P is for Paint, paper, print making and photographs - all of which I used to create my journal page.

WOYWW
Wednesdays is also the day to share our workspaces at "Stamping Ground" - the fun meme hosted by Julia.

My table was covered - with papers and paint and scraps as I worked on a new quote. The photos were taken from my garden last summer.

ABC Wednesday - I for Inks and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, I is the letter of focus.

I is for ink sprays.
I have several ink sprays but have not used them very much. I decided to create a background with the ink sprays (on an altered book)

(and journal)

and then I used stencils to spray some hearts. Then added some cut hearts and a quote to finish the page.

The quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year."

WOYWW

Time to share your worktable for WOYWW - the fun meme hosted by Julia at "Stamping Ground" Join in the fun.

Here is my work table after I had glued on the quote in the altered book to the left. To the right is the journal with the second layer of stencils only. Still not sure where that is going. I should have included a photo of my fingers - a little pink and purple. Inks stain a bit!

AEDM

Leah at "Creative Every Day" hosts this special challenge every November and I have participated for several years. My project for this month has been to carve a stmp each day, which I have done.
Here are a few from this week:

This morning though, my creative output began with writing . I had been working on a new chapter I had to add to a novella I am working on, when I realized that there had to be a gift the woman brought and I wanted it to have a message for the main character. Well, I could have just imagined one, but instead, I actually made the artwork for the story.I had been inspired from an ATC that I had received from "ArtSteph" - loved it. I knew it would work for the gift..
Here it is:

It is one of my favourite quotes.
