A to D Cards, Watermelon Award

Last night was another night when sleep wouldn't come easily. So I got up and ended up creating - much better than eating!!

I decided to create postcard size affirmation cards to go with the journal pages. I even added a second "D" card as I needed a reminder that I need to dance!

Watermelon 10 Award

The lovely Angie, from Angie's Art Time, has bestowed on me the Watermelon 10 Award. I had seen it on numerous blogs but had not really known too much about it.

Angie, a fellow teacher, really made my day with her wonderfully kind words about me and my blog. Thanks Angie!

I believe that it is for people who share their creative spirit through their blog.

I pass this award along - in the spirit of "no obligation blogging" - to all the WTJ participants - for their joyous wrecking of their journals. It has been such a pleasure to journey with them on this wrecking journey of discovery and fun. (And only a week left!!!)

So ladies, grab the watermelon and post on your blogs - you all deserve it!!

Wreck This Journal

Wrecking my journal this week was sort of an after thought. I realized yesterday I had not done much so did some of the paint pages. Trouble is when I went to photograph the pages, I did more wrecking just trying to pull the pages apart!

I am finding this journey a fun one and watching the creativity of others has been the best part of it all. I am becoming fired up to do so many other things. So thank you ladies for your awesome creativity!

Here are a few of the pages I did do this week:
I :

painted,
(throwing paint blobs)

(with a broken skewer),

flew a plane (I'd call it the love boat if it was a boat!).I have to work on flying technique - it really did not go far! connected the dots,

doodled,

and did pepper prints.

Not a lot but fun anyway.

Hard to believe there is only one more week. Lots to do - but I know that the momentum is there - I want to finish the journal. I don't want there to be blank pages.
Be sure to check out the other "Wreck This Journal" participants.

Wreck This Journal

Well we are counting down to the end of our wrecking days! Only 2 more weeks after this. As I went through the journal this past week I was amazed at just what I had left to do: most of the writing! I love to write and yet I could not get down to long pages of writing about a boring time or activity!I took it with me to a reunion of former teachers and they had fun adding to some of the pages.

What did I do? I:

*drew with my left hand

*wrote with glue

*made some ugly drawings

*made a list of 16 other ways to wreck the journal

*decorated my journal's cover (I've added my name over this and did stamping on the front).

*and added to a number of pages, as well as adding pictures throughout the journal.

But although I didn't do as many pages or do as much destruction as I had planned, I was creative in other ways.

I am adding to my deck of cards and enjoying the process. (By the way, my first GIVEAWAY is up at midnight Friday - so swing by and give advice!)

I have also joined in several ATC swaps and am enjoying that as well. I'm creating Zentangles right now! It is so00 addictive.

Have a great week wrecking! Be sure to check out the other wreckers at Wreck This Journal.

Wreck This Journal

What a week for getting into the journal. This has been the best yet - in terms of enjoying the process, f or doing my own thing, for just getting pages done.

As others have said, it is the process, not the end product. The actual doing pages has gotten me thinking, planning, doing and then , going on to other things!

This week I coloured, used hair, chewed, added dirt - to name a few of the things I did.

I had to check markers leftover from school eventually, so used them on this page. Then I dirtied up another page.

I chewed on "this" (borrowed the idea from someone! -thanks!) and finished the one continuous line.

My absolute favourite though was creating with hair!

This is a portrait of my cat - she was sitting by the sliding door waiting to go out and I had a brainwave.

Yes - it is HER fur on her portrait! She is shedding like crazy. Eventually I hope to fill it in.

I did a few other things, but these were what I enjoyed the most.

This week as well , Alex and I traded pages. What a treat it was to receive hers in the mail. What beautiful colours and textures. (We ended up sending the same page!) Her is hers.

Thanks again Alex - I love it!

Thanks Jamie for arranging the trades.

Be sure to check the other "wreckers"- see what everyone ( and this is a big group) is up.

Check it out here.

Wreck This Journal

Once again we are sharing our "wreckings" - as Jamie has had us do for the pasr few weeks. This new "Next Chapter" book group has been a fun one - with challenges as well. Be sure to check out the other members of this group at Jamie's blog.

I was not able to post last week so am including what I have doing to my journal over the past 2 weeks.
The biggest event was actually having a shower with it! I wasn't even modest! Even sprayed it! But then it was over 2 days drying out!

That bit of wrecking got me moving after that. I scratched it, threw it, painted it, scribbled in it, cut it, washed it and tore it!

I also "loved" it - and did it my way. (One word page!)

I did a "paint" blot - and then did a print with a butterfly.

I tore a paper out, crumpled it up and tried to get our cat to play with it. I was the one batting it around! She was certainly in no mood to play with me or the paper ball!.

I went to tear a paper out and lose it but discovered my 4-letter word collage on the other side! Yikes! So instead I lost the "lice" - not a word a teacher wants to have around! lol

One of the most fun to do was to deface my face! That was a hoot!
I had fun with it the past 2 weeks and looking forward to more fun times! It is certainly getting a wee bit wrecked!

Wreck This Journal / Postcard Friendship Friday

This week I did not get too adventurous with the journal until this morning. I was making tea and the thought came to me that a tea bag would work wonderfully instead of coffee. (I am NOT a coffee drinker. ) So I enclosed the other pages in plastic (oh so carefully!) and then played with the wet teabag on the page.

Since I add milk to my tea, I wanted to see what would be the colour of the page with milk added to the tea. So I then spooned some tea onto the left side.

Once I got into the mood of "wrecking", I turned the page back to see what was there and I saw "FIRE". Being the careful person I am I figured this would be the perfect time to light up that page - while it was still damp!!!
So I took the book to the sink and lit up a long match and set fire to the page in several spots.

There are a few holes and rippled edges.

What fun!
Then I realized I had to head to work asap but was nervous about leaving the book in the house!
I dumped it into the recycling tub on the porch, threw a bit more water on for good measure (should have taken it into the shower!! lol) and scooted off to work.
Here I am on planning time - having to use the computer at school to upload pictures. Still no access at home!

Wreck This Journal!/ Postcard Friendship Friday

Today begins a new adventure - "Wreck This Journal" (by Keri Smith), the Next Chapter blogging group, headed by Jamie Ridler.

It promises to be fun, creative, and take us places we may not want to go! I hope I am up to the challenge. Not matter - let the adventure begin!

My first step was to write my name - in many different ways. Had no white - made block letters - then the letters are white inside! As I worked down the page I realized I was placing my name in the wrong sections - but wait - Jamie said there was no wrong, no mistakes. This definitely is my kind of project!

I thought I would peek in the book. I had kept it in the bag since I bought it. I was very good about not looking too soon!
The first page I opened to said "break the spine". How could I do that?? Books are my friends, they are to be treated with respect. So, I closed the book and visited a few blogs. Jennifer set hers on fire! If she could do that, surely I could bend the book back a little.

So I gingerly took the book and snapped it. "Ouch!" I then apologized to the book.

I have a feeling that this won't be the worst I do to it!

As I am into report card writing mod now, just taking a few minutes free time a day to play with this book and visit the blogs of a wonderful group of women, will be a very welcome break.

And I may not be able to post pictures for a while until I get the upload terminal (have no idea what it is really called) fixed. In my rush to upload some pictures tonight, I pushed the plug into the computer. Ughhhh!

I have many more wonderful blogs to visit and fellow adventurers to meet! Looking forward to this very different adventure!
