ABC Wednesday - C

This week at ABC Wednesday, C is the letter of the week.

C is for Cards

Playing cards are just the right size for creating APCs - art playing cards (a typical ATC).They provide a strong backing for collage.

Christmas cards can be cut up and used to create Christmas ornaments.

C is also for cardboard

Cardboard pieces can be used in a number of ways. One of my favourites is to strip off the outer layer, to reveal the ridges in the centre and then use this for printmaking on the gelli plate.

WOYWW

Today is the day of the week where we share what we're working on and what the state of our work tables are at "Stamping Ground".

I've been working on a set of ATCs for a Pick a Theme swap. I like to use old stamps and if I can, stamps I've carved myself. You'll notice the snowman is one I carved.

(On organization tip - to the left is a small plastic bag that holds Christmas bits - stamps, pictures, old cards. I have bags for butterflies, horses, vintage, etc)

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

I have not been creating as much art as I would have liked the past couple of weeks, but I have been writing more.

I worked at our table upstairs last night as I was doing a journal page.

ABC Wednesday

ABC Wednesday is the fun meme that puts the focus on a new letter each week and challenges people to respond to the letter in some way.

This week, the letter is B.

B is for books - 

old books that have been discarded.


But these books have been altered, and been given a new life. The pages have been painted or collaged, some have been torn out to use in other ways,

The result - art.

I have several of these altered books on the go. Usually I paint the pages but sometimes, I collage other papers on them - especially gelli papers. Then they will become a canvas for art.

WOYWW and Journal 52

Today I was working on a journal spread for this week's Journal 52 and Inspiration Avenue.

It is also time to share WOYWW at "Stamping Ground".


The first is the background page - in my art room where I paint.

When I collage, I work at the upstairs dining room table.

For Journal 52, last week's theme was "Pathways". (I am creating an altered book for Journal 52, with quotes I've come across).

I wanted to do another creative project for this round, so decided that since one of my goals this year is to use up many of my art and craft supplies, I would choose a supply and then create something from it.

A is for Ads.
Each week we are bombarded by ads. I gathered a few.

Then I cut and pasted in my journal, and created an ad collage.

Let's Tangle
I have started to work through Kathleen Murray's interesting book "Let's Tangle". There are step-by-step instructions for creating over 100 zentangles. I aim to do a few a week.
