Slice of Life Tuesday

Canada Day was July 1 - Canada's 145th birthday. I enjoyed watching the shows from Ottawa. I have been there to experience all the music but it was the fireworks that I went for. They were spectacular! My youngest was in Ottawa for the weekend and he enjoyed it all.

We took in the fireworks here and as always I loved them. The noise, the colour,  the designs. It was well worth the long lines to get there, the hunt for that last remaining parking spot, the walk to find a seat. And while we waited I enjoyed watching people!

I have seen fireworks in many places - Montreal, Ottawa, Lake George, Toronto. I have even had fireworks at  a couple of homes where I lived. It is always special, not matter how long the display. It is magical - I am always awed.

Happy birthday Canada!

I am glad you shared your pictures. Happy Canada Day! When I lived in Lima, Peru, in July we had a church service where we sang the national anthems of Canada, the USA and Peru since all celebrate patriotic holidays that month and our congregation had members from all those countries (and many more). This year around the USA, fireworks displays may be hard to find, so many are being cancelled because of drought conditions. My favorite fireworks display of all though, was the one we had the year my Marine son (working with explosives is part of his job specialty) was home on leave and provided a neighborhood fireworks show on the cul-de-sac where my parents live. It was fabulous to have front row seats! Of course, for me the show was about watching my son, confident and capable, sharing something of himself with family and friends, amazing us all.
