It's Monday! What are You Reading?
School is finally done for the year and I am so looking forward to catching up on my reading. The pile and list seem to grow longer every week!
The past couple of weeks I read:
The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate (YA)
I had seen this book reviewed and recommended so many times that I had to read it. I loved it! I know I will be using this as a read aloud in the fall. I am so looking forward to that.
I read 3 books by Marsha Skrypuch:
Silver Threads (a picture book)- about the Ukrainian internment in Canada during WWI
Aram's Choice -
Stolen Child (Both good books about children during war)
I finally read "
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" by Judy Blume. I could so relate to those Grade 5 issues! Really enjoyed it!
Currently reading:
I am taking part in several teacher book clubs this summer, so I will be working through:
The Daily Five by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser (this will be a reread for me)
Guiding Readers by Lori Jamison Rog
Guided Math by Lanny Sammons
As well I have these books to read first on my list:
The Bread Winner by Deborah Ellis (YA novel about a girl in Afghanistan)
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Making Bombs for Hitler by Marsha F. Skrypuch (YA)
As the week goes on I will probably pick up other books as well. I want to make a big dent in my list this summer!
Be sure to check
here and
here for some great reads!

Some great books on this post. Ivan is a wonderful book that is one of my favorite ape books ever. I adore Divergent, it is one of my favorite dystopian. And I am so glad that you are reading The Breadwinner- it is an important book. Making Bombs for Hitler looks interesting- added it to my TBR.
Happy reading this week! :)
I finally got around to reading Ivan this past week. So glad that I have social media to "pressure" me into it! Makes me wish I was still in the classroom so that I could share it as a read aloud also :)

I'm currently reading "Enslaved by Ducks", which is a hilarious read! I just finished SkyWalker and A Blistered Kind of Love, both about the Pacific Crest Trail and loved them. However, they aren't as funny as Enslaved by Ducks!
