As I was watering our gardens this afternoon, I couldn't ignore the beauty of the clouds. We have already gotten warning of a heat even tomorrow - the hottest day of the summer (over 40 C humidex).

Times for shadows! Today is a bit overcast although it is supposed to be a warm day. Yesterday, tho the sun was bright and shadows were in abundance! (and of course I'm loving the beauty of our gardens)

Sunday Weekly Wrap-Up

This past week I finally took time for creating some art. I have missed it - but writing has taken more of my time the past few months. I will hopefully will take more time for art each week.
 I have signed up for "MADE", which starts Sept. 1. The challenges at Collage Obsession start again in September as well.
I also want to work on my drawing skills and hope to do a daily practice in September.

Mixed Media


I had fun creating 3 mixed media pieces in response to Jane Davies challenge (see here for my post on it)

I used modeling paste in each of these, through a stencil. Love the effect of this on the pieces.

Collage series,challenge

Jane Davies posted a challenge at "Collage Journeys" - create a painting where all 4 quadrants are different.
She also suggested working in a series..(Check here for a tutorial she did)

I wanted to play this afternoon and decided to work on my own series - using all the same materials, but altering each.

I painted each canvas first:

Then I had fun - with stencils, printing, stamping, drawingmodeling paste, stickers, using collaged gelli papers. Here's the result:
