Summer of Color

The past 6 weeks at Twinkle, Twinkle, Kristin has held her second Summer of Colour. It has been a fun exploration of colour through the inspiration of  ice cream flavours. I have enjoyed playing with the colours and have created several backgrounds for use in other projects.
This week it was:
Watermelon Ice

I only used red and black but used a credit and and a heart stamp sheet  in creating my background:

Last week the flavour was :  Wild n' Reckless Sherbet

I used turquoise, green and 2 shades of pink, with a sponge brush and a cardboard strip to create this background:

Be sure to check here to see how other artists have interpreted these colour inspirations.

Weekly Wrap up / Summer of Colour

July has begun with celebrating Canada Day - fireworks last night were impressive. There is something about the colour, the noise, the anticipation of each explosion. It was almost as fun watching the stream of people trying to find a good vantage point for watching the fireworks.

I am returning to my weekly wrap- up (alto it is a day late).
I am working on and  beginning a number of challenges for this month:

1. Summer of Colour

Kristin at Twinkle, Twinkle is holding the Summer of Color challenge based on awesome ice cream flavours. How fun is that! This week it is Strawberry Lemonade.

I had fun just playing with paint, creating a background for another project.

2.  Flowers
I am taking photos and then working on sketches, drawings, collages and/or paintings from these photos. I have started a journal for these creations. Yesterday was finishing the flower cover.

Today was a sketch of a wild rose.

3. ATCs
I am working on several sets, but this weekend I was working mostly on backgrounds to use for these cards.

(I used left over paint from strawberry lemonade)

4. Photography
For July I am taking photos each day, to record our new dove family setting up a home on our porch and of our garden. I am looking for textures as well.

(It's a bit blurred but love the colour and shape of this firework display)

Summer of Colour

Kristin of "Twinkle, Twinkle" has posted another delicious ice cream for this week:

Baseball Nut - "A smooth, vanilla flavored ice cream swirled with a black raspberry ribbon and loaded with cashews" from  Baskin Robbins

At first I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with this colour, but then just decided to play. I grabbed  a rose and  black for the raspberry and brown and white. Then I just applied the paint and blended and played.

Same colours, just a different focus. Not sure where I will go from here, but enjoyed the play tonight.

Be sure to check out the wide range of awesome art here.

Week 2 - Summer of Colour

Kristin of "Twinkle, Twinkle" is once again holding her "Summer of Colour". This year,  though,  the inspirations are from delicious ice cream flavours!

Welcome to Week Two of The Summer of Color 2: Ice Cream Inspirations!
This week the inspiration is from mint chocolate chip! How delicious is that!

I just finished report cards last night (|YEAH!!!), so I am now free to indulge in all kinds of challenges. Kristin's colour challenge is a must! I thoroughly enjoyed it last year.

I created 2 backgrounds tonight - one for week 1 and 2.

Week 2:

I used 2 colours of acrylic paint with white , with the idea of ground and sky/grass.

Then I added a photo of a rose from our garden, some stamps and one of my favourite quotes:

Week 1 was Rainbow Sherbet!

I'm still not sure what I will do with this background yet.

Be sure to check out the different versions for Week 2 here.
