ABC Wednesday - K

This week, ABC Wednesday brings us K.

K is for Kingston, Kapuskasing, Kenora and Keswick - towns/cities in Ontario that I have visited
As well as Kamloops and Kelowna in B.C. that I haven't visited.


But K is also for Knit the Bridge, Cambridge.
This event took place in September 2010 and was a huge community effort.
People donated thousands of scarves, hats, and afghans, which were sewn together and covered the bridge in Cambridge.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Shadows were not too evident this week - lots of cloudy and overcast days. Now we have snow today! A sprinkling so far but the ground is white.

So I am turning to some shadows I have not included in the past year.

ABC Wednesday - K is for Knit the Bridge and some great artists

ABC Wednesday has rolled around again and this week we look at K.

There are quite a few "K" artists and I will focus on 4 of them, very different from each other.

As well, I am sharing more photos of "Knit the Bridge"!

Frida Kahlo: She was a Mexican painter, known for her vibrant colours and her many self portrais.

Thomas Kincade:

"Kinkade emphasizes simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his paintings. As a devout Christian, Kinkade uses his gift as a vehicle to communicate and spread inherent life-affirming values."

Paul Klee: He was considered both a Swiss and German painter. " His highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included expressionism, cubism, and surrealism."

 

Cornelius Krieghoff: He is " probably the most popular Canadian painter of the 19th century. Krieghoff is most famous for his paintings of Canadian landscapes and Canadian life outdoors, particularly in the winter"

 

Knit the Bridge
I have to include some more photos of the fabulous art project that took over the bridge in downtown Cambridge! "Knit the Bridge" turned out to be such a collaborative effort of people far and wide. It was such fun to visit as well. All the knitted goods were taken down yesterday and will be washed and donated to the needy. What a worthwhile project!
