ABC Wednesday - W and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, W gets centre stage.

W is for watercolour - one of my favourite mediums. I have taken several courses and seek to improve. I collect watercolours as well.

This evening, I was looking for some inspiration and then saw the photo of our cat Fluffy, who we had for 21 years, hanging just a few feet away.(She has been gone now for almost 3 years - still miss her)

I attempted to paint her in watercolour, although the colours are a tad darker and not as varied as Fluffy who was a maine coon cat.

W is also for WOYWW, which stands for "What's on Your Workspace Wednesday", a fun weekly gathering where artists from around the world share what and where they have been working the past week.

 I needed to see the photo hanging, so today I worked at my dining room table, where I tend to do small collages and watercolour.

Day 9 - September Daily Blogging

Karissa of "A Fresh Start on a Budget" is hosting an interesting challenge - blogging every day in September, by responding to daily prompts.
Today's prompt:   Show us a favorite photo and tell why it’s a favorite.

This is a photo of our cat Fluffy. She is around 18 in this picture. She lived til 21, passing away last Ocober (almost a year ago)
I still miss her. She had quite the personality. It was only in the past few years that she would actually sit on my lap for a longer period of time.
I still can't replace her.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Once again, time to share shadows. The search for shadows has become an addictive, but fun practice. Many times it is the shadows I notice first - rather than trying to lessen them I want them!

For those who have followed my blog through SSS, I must tell you that my beloved cat Fluffy died this week, at age 20. The post below offers a tribute to her.  Here is a final photo, my favourite, from a year or so ago.

Goodbye Fluffy

Goodbye dear Fluffy. I cannot believe you are gone. You have been such a wonderful part of our lives for so long.
We have had you for 20 years - you have had 9 lives for sure.
I remember when we got you - for 25c, from a local farm. You were only 5 weeks old and you had a tough time at first separating from your mom. You suckled on my crocheted afghans for a long time.
You also could not stop climbing screens when you wanted to come in. I don't know how many we had to replace. You were a great mouser, although you did like the odd chipmunk.
In the last few years,  since your special girl moved out, you had finally come to sit on our laps as we watched TV.
 You also were a wonderful alarm clock - heaven forbid if we slept in. We could hear your meows. I can just image you telling us to get moving and feed you!
You were also quite the guard cat. No matter which of our cars arrived home last, you were always there to welcome us home. Except today.
I am going to miss you so much (as will everyone in our family). You were such a lovely, ornery, special cat. So smart, so unique.
Goodbye Fluff.

Shadow Shot Sunday

A beautiful, crisp morning - as has been most days this week. Autumn is definitely here, The evenings are cooler but the days have been lovely.
Yesterday our school did the annual Terry Fox run and it was we raised almost $2000.
Our walk took us through a park I had not been before and the colours were lovely. I wished I had taken a camera!


Here are a few shadows from this morning.

Fluffy loves to lay in the sun on our porch most days. At 20 she deserves to rest when and where she chooses!

Shadow Shot Sunday

This morning has turned out to be lovely - cool but sunny, after the cloudy rainy last few days. A perfect day for shadows! I did not have to go farther than my back walk and porch.

I couldn't resist the peeling paint with the shadows!

I had to include a photo of little Fluffy and the morning dove nesting on the ladder on our porch wall. I haven't been able to catch her off the eggs yet to see what they are like. But I am able to walk right up to her and take pictures.

Shadow |Shot Sunday

A beautiful, sunny day produced lovely shadows! One I couldn't resist was the dandelion right outside the front door!

I also had to include one of Fluffy. (Next month she will be 20!)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Back again!

It has been a while since I participated in Shadow Shot Sunday. I still look for shadows - it is a compulsion! But I have had an extended rest from blogging. I have missed the interactions with other bloggers the most, but needed this time away. I am slowly going to return to challenges I have so enjoyed in the past.

Thought I would share first some ATCs of shadows I created last year.

It,s that special time of the week to share shadows. So many times these shadows are more interesting than the original object.
Here are a few from my garden:

I had to include a shot of our old girl Fluffy. She is now 19! The arm in the photo is from our concrete jockey.

And would you believe, we have a new nest on the ladder on our porch and 2 new eggs! ! have never seen that before - a second nest of eggs especially so late!

It's time once again to showcase shadow. It used to be that I tried to avoid shadows- now I seek them out.

One of my favourite subjects -Fluffy, our 18 year old cat, enjoying her regular napping place in the sun!

ABC Wednesday - C is for Cat - Cute and Cuddly

Today is ABC Wednesday - C is our letter to focus on.
I have chosen C for Cat - as Fluffy has been a member of our family for almost 18 years ( in 2 more months.)

I can remember when we got her - she was the runt of the litter and a wild little furball. She was an outside cat for most of her life - she hunted and caught many a bird, mouse or chipmunk. It has only been the past year that she has really slowed down.

These photos were taken this morning.

When she was younger she was my daughter's cat and slept with her and hardly ever came to me. Now, since my daughter has moved out, she jumps on my lap whenever I am at the computer or on the couch. She loves the attention now. And , I must say, I love the purring and warmth provided by her.
