Happy Canada Day! Happy 150th

Happy Canada Day!

Happy 150th!

Yes, I am proud to be Canadian and would not want to live anywhere else.
But - we are at a crossroads. Too many Canadians have shown a dark side - of racism, bigotry, hate.
We have also not moved forward on the road to reconciliation.
Vancouver has chosen to call this hear -  150+, to recognize the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to the very fabric of Canada. We all need to be on that path of reconciliation, of inclusivity.

Happy Canada Day!

Here's hoping everyone had a great Canada Day!
The weather here yesterday was perfect - sunny, but not too warm.
Hubby and I and his son, daughter-in-law and grandson went to Port Dover for the day.
The little guy was in the parade and was so cute. The parade itself had such variety - from decorated floats,

to marching bands,

to clowns

and vintage cars and trucks.

I haven't sat curbside for a Canada parade in decades!

We then spent a couple hours down by the beach - supper and sand and water - a great mix!

(This is the lighthouse on the pier. Great sand beach as well. Port Dover is on Lake Erie. It is the site of the Friday the 13th motorcycle reunion every year!)

We ended the evening with music (3 local bands) and then fireworks.

What a great way to spend a day!

Signs of national pride were everywhere - from shirts and faces,

to flagpoles,

small flags everywhere,

to rooftops!

Yeah Canada! Happy Birthday!!!
