31 Days of Art and Inspiring Words - Day 3

It is Day 3  of the 31 Days of Writing Challenge.(visit here for more information)

This quote has haunted me since I heard it:

"Your life is made of two dates and a dash.   Make the most of the dash."

I tried to find who said it first and I came across two possible sources.

One is a poem "The Dash" by Linda Ellis.

The other possible quote is by Kevin Welch

"There'll be two dates on your tombstone And all your friends will read 'em But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. "

The underlying message of both is to live your life fully. Not bad advice.

31 Days of Art and Inspiring Words - Day 2

It is Day 2 of Inspiring words (for the 31 Days of Writing Challenge) and I felt this quote by Maya Angelou was needed by many people around the world.Oh, if we were all so wise!

"The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. 
The desire to reach hearts is wise."


Maya Angelou was a role model for many. She was a writer, actress, speaker,singer, dancer - she accomplished so much in her long, illustrious life. I remember well reading "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" and being awestruck by this woman.
