31 Days of Art and Inspiring Words - Day 4

It is Day 4 of the 31 Days of Writing Challenge (check here for more info and hundreds of inspiring blogs to follow)

When I read this quote it truly resonated with me.

"Make every day your masterpiece."

It was written by John Wooden, the famous basketball coach at UCLA, who led his team to an amazing 10 NCAA national championships in twelve years. (Check here to read his definition of success and for more information on his life.)

But it is part of a longer piece, one that offers strong advice in how to lead a good life.

"Be true to yourself. Make each day a masterpiece. Help others. Drink deeply from good books. Make friendship a fine art. Build a shelter against a rainy day."

Words to live by, indeed! I particularly love the "Drink deeply from good books" -- not the kind of thing I'd expect to hear from a basketball coach, but that's only because my interaction with sports has been severely limited. But more than that, it's always, always inspiring to find someone who lives out his own words, so thank you for this post... I'm going to click over to his definition of success now.
