7th Annual Halloweensie Writing Contest

7th Annual Halloweensie Writing Contest

Hard to believe this is the 7th Hallowe'en short story contest - hosted by Susanna Leonard Hill.
The rules are here  The stories must be posted between Oct.27 - 31.

Here's my entry:

Candy Corn for  Monster

Monster jumped. What was that horrible black creature? He breathed out. Oh – only my shadow. Am I really that big? Oooh, who can I scare?

Monster shuffled towards a group of creatures – they certainly looked weird. As he raised his arms and opened his mouth, the smallest creature screamed.

“Go away Monster!” She dipped into her bag and threw a handful of candy corn at him.

Several hit his nose. “Ow! That hurt! That wasn’t nice!” Monster scooped up a few corns and popped them in his mouth. “Yummy! Any more?”

Poor monster seems a little lost. I like that he is rewarded with treats. Great job!

Well done, Bev! If they were Twix bars, I wouldn't mind being pelted with them. And I LOVE your website banner...it is beautiful!

Hi Beverly,

I was going to say what a waste of candy corn, but the Monster rectified that situation by eating them. Fun story! Good luck in the contest.

So much can be done with candy corn these days.
Way to think quick little one and make a friend of sorts.

Bev, your story is really cute. I love that the little girl is not afraid of the monster. Reminds of the original FRANKENSTEIN movie from the 30's. Good luck!

Hahaha! Candy corn as a weapon! I love it, Beverley! :) I'm not sure the little girl did her kind a service, though - the yumminess of the candy corn might just encourage him :) Thanks so much for joining in the Halloweensie fun!
