ABC Wednesday - Z is for Zipper and Zip

It is hard to believe we are at the end of the alphabet for Round 6 at ABC Wednesday! I have only been part of this meme for a year. but I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and meeting new people.

This week it is Z - the last letter of the alphabet. There is not a great variety for this letter. I chose: Zipper and Zip

Zippers provide a very needed service. They keep our clothing closed and help seal in food freshness.
For a more detailed description and history try here.

A zipper is also an amusement ride. More information here.

If we look at the root word of zipper, we get zip and there are many expressions that use this word. Here are a few::

zip it or zip your lip- for close your mouth/be quiet!

zip a long - as in, move quickly

zip - nothing, zero

Can you add any others???

Be sure to visit the other great participants here.
Let's hope we will be starting over, with Round 7!

  3. Ah! The Zipper ride! I used to love that ride. You have to be careful who you choose to ride it with. Some people will be mean and flip it upside the entire duration of the ride!

  14. Lots of fun Z words there.

And one should never ever underestimate the value of a zipper. I know it's as embarrasing as could be to discover halfway through the day that ones zipper is down, and wonder how long it has been that way.

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday Team, thank you for joining us. Round six has been a lot of fun, I hope you will join us again in round seven, as we start year four of this project.

  19. What would we do without Zippers? But the Zipper Ride? Nope!!!! Merry-go-
Round is as adventerous as I care to get now - or, at Disneyland, Pirates of the Caribbean or Small World.

I thought about Zippity Doo Dah, Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit before I posted, but by the time Tuesday evening got here that thought had gone away. Loved that movie and the song!

  20. Very informative! I had no idea that zip was a verb. Looking into my dictionary I found among other expressions :"bullets zipped over them"..
