I own one of those 'ribbons' with feet and inches on one side and centimeters on the other. My father was hanging my curtains and needed to measure out the curtain rails. But instead of going from 0 to 15 cm, he counted down from 1.50m to 1.35m. Not realising the 'ribbon' was about 3 cm longer than the ordinary Dutch ones, because of the inches!
