ART on Friday

Another week has sped by - and it was a beautiful spring week ( in winter!), with record breaking temperatures
Here are a few things I've been working on this week:

Colour Me Positive
This week at LULu Art, the theme was perseverance.
When I read the quote, I thought of my honeymoon 15 years ago to Banff, Alberta. I copied some of my photos and used these for the background. Quick and easy - and meaningful

Here are the faces from this week:

The Collage Workbook
For the two projects I did this week, I used two flower photos I had taken:

#7 called for cutting strips and then reassembling to create a new collage
#8 called for cutting blocks and rearranging them.

Mini Collage Notebook
I only did one this week - it is just getting to make it a habit.

I took part in 3 challenges this week:
ABC Wednesday:

Tag Tuesday (spring flowers theme)

Sunday Postcard Art (dictionary theme)

WOYWW and Challenges

Each week, Julia Dunnit of "Stamping Ground", hosts WOYWW and we are all encouraged to share what we are working on and what our work spaces look like.

My work space this week was on my dining room table and I had just finished two cards for challenges.

Here are the cards I created for the challenges:

Tag Tuesday - theme was "spring flowers"

Sunday Postcard Art - theme was "dictionary"

ABC Wednesday

This week at ABC Wednesday, G is the star.

G is for Mahatma Gandhi - whose words have given millions hope and strength. (And can do the same for all of us now.)

Here are two of my favourite quotes by this amazing Indian statesman:

Here are a few more of his quotes:

Truth never damages a cause that is just.

Action expresses priorities.

A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission  can alter the course of history.

An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.

Sunday Photo Share

Just what we need a bit of these days - HOPE. On a walk along the river this afternoon, I saw this graffiti - loved it.What a gorgeous day to be out for a walk - more like spring! We set a record here yesterday and today it was 10 C (about 50F). Sure doesn't feel like winter.- usually we are below zero, with lots of snow. Now it is all melting.

Had fun taking more photos than I have in a while - of shadows and skies and trees. Here are a few for the photo challenges I usually take part in:

Shadow Shot Sunday

Love these scrap metal sculptures - they sure make fun shadows.

Be sure to check here to see the shadows found by others around the world.

ART on Friday/Saturday

A day late to post I know - but some weeks and days just become busier than others.
Here are some of the things I was working on this week:

Colour Me Positive
This weekly challenge hosted at LuLu Art has been most enjoyable. I find deciding how to interpret the theme (this week it is moving forward) as well as searching for complimentary quotes.

The Collage Workbook
I did a couple of exercises from the book this week:

Frankenstein
This is a fun project I always did with my students and they loved it. Interchanging body parts can get interesting.

Recycle
I grabbed a bunch of junk mail flyers and then created these 2 cards:

Art Cards
Here's my  "SPEAK OUT" card for the ABC Wednesday Challenge:

I also created some art cards and tags for several challenges this week. Here's the link to the post on the cards.

WOYWW and Challenges

It is time once again for the weekly WOYWW - which Julia Dunnit hosts at "Stamping Ground"- and where we share our workspaces and what we are working on.

Today I was busy with some art challenges and by the time I was done my dining room table was a MESS!

Here are the 3 items I created for 3 challenges (with their theme):

Art Journal Journey - "50 Shades of Red"

I enjoy creating tags and when I found this copy of my Mom on her wedding day, I knew I wanted to create a card for her.

Try It on Tuesday - "Let's Get Messy"

Creating the background involved some very messy printing and painting and even using fingers. A lot of fun.

Go Tag Thursday - "Wheels/Cogs"

ABC Wednesday - F

This week at ABC Wednesday , F gets the nod.

F is for Benjamin Franklin - with words of wisdom we all need to hear and follow.

Be sure to visit here to see what others around the world did for F.

ART on Friday

Another has passed by - and a few more art pieces completed. I need that time to play with paint and paper - it is helping to keep my stress level down.

Colour Me Positive
The theme of love is an appropriate one for this week at LuLu Art- and the quote points to the mystery of why we fall in love with who we do.

Tag Tuesday
The theme for this week at Tag Tuesday was "bookworm" and when I found the quote I used, I knew it was appropriate for the holiday coming.

The Collage Workbook
I focused on the exercise on birds as I have stamps and lots of pictures of birds. Plowman says this of birds in this wonderful resource book I am using:
"I see them as a link between the heavens and the earth, and as a symbol of rebirth and resurrection."

WOYWW

Each week, Julia Dunnit of "Stamping Ground", encourages us to share our work spaces and what we are working on.
I am taking part in a Valentine exchange and I have been creating backgrounds and cards for this exchange.
Here is my art table in our basement after making some gelli prints:

(papers everywhere!)

Here's my dining room table after finishing the cards (and before I cleaned up)

Here are 2 of the cards I made to give away:
