ABC Wednesday - Y and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday Y is the letter of the week.

Y is for yellow and YES!

Have to include some of the yellow flowers from our gardens Yes indeed.

WOYWW

Each week at the"Stamping Grounds", Julia hosts the fun mem "WOYWW", where artists from around the world share their work spaces and what they are working on.

This week was a quick page for ABC Wednesday and I was creating on my dining room table - my favourite spot for cut and paste.

Art on Friday

A quick post to share a couple of face projects:

That quote really opens one eyes to the necessity of living our moments in the now.

Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand - and melting like a snowflake. Let us use it before it is too late.”

Marie Beynon Ray

Then I just had fun cutting and pasting to create a fun face.

ABC Wednesday and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday the letter X is letter of the week.

I cheated a bit - X is for X in words and painted.

Be sure to check here for how others around the world solved this challenge.

WOYWW

Each week Julia, at "Stamping Ground", hosts a fun gathering - to share our work spaces and what we are working on.

For the above ABC challenge, I started with blue backgrounds.

Once I created the Xs, I decided to use a quote by Norman Vincent Peale on the other side

. Here's my table when I was finished.

Art on Friday

It is almost impossible to make sense of the massacre of 9 people  - in a church, no less.
Evil seems to be seeping into every part of our world. Charleston, S.C. is one of the most heinous.

I turned to words to help me - words by Martin Luther King Jr. and others - to help see that love, acceptance, respect, dignity must prevail.

My two journal spreads reflect these words.

LOVE MUST TRIUMPH!

ABC Wednesday - W and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, W gets centre stage.

W is for watercolour - one of my favourite mediums. I have taken several courses and seek to improve. I collect watercolours as well.

This evening, I was looking for some inspiration and then saw the photo of our cat Fluffy, who we had for 21 years, hanging just a few feet away.(She has been gone now for almost 3 years - still miss her)

I attempted to paint her in watercolour, although the colours are a tad darker and not as varied as Fluffy who was a maine coon cat.

W is also for WOYWW, which stands for "What's on Your Workspace Wednesday", a fun weekly gathering where artists from around the world share what and where they have been working the past week.

I needed to see the photo hanging, so today I worked at my dining room table, where I tend to do small collages and watercolour.

Be sure to check here for ABC Wednesday

and here for "Stamping Ground" for WOYWW.

What better shadows to share than shadows amongst the flowers! (especially on a cloudy day like today)

Check here for wonderful shadows from around the world. Once you start looking, you will become addicted to the hunt for shadows.

Art on Friday

Time to share some of the art I have done this week.

Faces and Journal Spread

I have been enjoying the weekly challenge at Kim Dellow's blog. Each week she encourages us to paint, draw, create faces. These faces have invaded my journal pages each week.

This spread highlights two quotes I came across in the past few weeks.

(I used spray inks and bubble wrap prints for the background and used a cardboard print for the door.)

I also sketched a face as well, from a photo.

ICAD
I have been taking part in Daisy Yellow's ICAD adventure, for June and July, and enjoying creating my 4 x 6 collage cards. Here are the last 3.

Photography
With all of the flowers now blooming in our gardens, I've being taking lots of floral shots. Here are a few of my favourites:

ABC Wednesday and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, V takes centre stage.

V is for vegetable prints.

When printmaking you can use just about anything - found materials are a lot of fun to use.  I used potatoes when in the classroom, so that children could easily carve into the potato and make prints.

(I used a mushroom, pepper, carrot and cucumber.)

Be sure to check here for how others around the world focused on V.

WOYWW
Julia Dunnit hosts a wonderful weekly meme - WOYWW - at her blog "Stamping Ground" ,  a chance to share your workspace each Wednesday.

As I was making the prints above, I thought I'd capture my art table - After clean paper last week, there's now paint on it - no longer pristine.

I tried to do some maple key prints but just succeeded in making s mess. I've done it before and been more successful. Will have to try it again with different paints.

Art on Friday

It is that time of the week to share  some of the art I have done this week.

ICAD
I have started the ICAD  challenge at "Daisy Yellow" - creating an index card a day for June and July. So far I have created 4 collages on 4x6 cards. There are prompts and themes but no rules - just create. I have tried to use scraps of painted, handmade and fun papers as well as a used stamp and stamps I have carved. I hope to begin carving some new stamps soon.

Faces and Journal

I was watching a segment on youtube on the power of music and it really made me think of just how much music fills my life. I have the radio or stereo on most of the day and catch myself singing and/or dancing many times a day.
This journal page reflects the power of music and why it is important to all of us.

I also painted the face above  for "Show Your Face", the weekly challenge at Kim Dellow's blog., as well as this sketch
:

A second journal page I created this week I showcased here.

Photography
Here are some photos from the local garden centre - love going there to check out the blooms.
