ABC Wednesday - U and WOYWW

This week at ABC Wednesday, U takes centre stage.

U is for ugly art.

I tried, I really tried, to make some ugly art.
First was a layer of paper scraps, just glued randomly.

Then I splatted paint onto the papers and spread it around, and using plastic wrap to move it around some more.

Finally, I added a quote - one that took me some time to find. Several on bad artists though!

It may not be the ugliest piece, but I enjoyed the process - something I always encouraged in my students.

Be sure to check here to see how others around the world tackled the U challenge.

WOYWW

IT's that time of the week to share our work spaces for WOYWW - that fun meme hosted at "Stamping Ground" by Julia Dunnit.

The first photo shows the pole of papers and supplies I used to create the collage in my journal. (For these tasks I work at my dining room table.)

For the second task, I worked at my art table in the basement - don't have to worry about the mess of paint here.

Your "ugly" art is interesting. I often think that way about my projects without trying to make them ugly. Your collage is very pretty to my thinking. Happy WOYWW!

I like the quote of the page. It is not really ugly but good job for trying LOL :) Happy WOYWW! PaperOcotilloStudio #37

Yes, that is a good quote! Well done. Art can never be ugly though. Only misunderstood.
Have a good week,

I think it turned out perfect! I have to paint in a bathroom when I'm making a mess...that's why I need a dedicated craft room! Sandy Leigh #43

Making ugly art on purpose is a great way to relax! But it never turns out to be ugly, only more free! Well done!

I haven't done anything crafty in a long time. My goal when get home from a short vacation is to do some Christmas crafts including hanging bird feeders. - Margy

I like that quote and your "ugly" result. Sometimes I think that I've created something ugly, but after a second or third look, I no longer think of my piece as ugly at all. Simply joyfully what it is.

I like the idea of using plastic wrap to move the paint around. While the piece isn't ugly, that quote fits perfectly. Would love to sort through that pile of papers!
