ABC Wednesday - Y is for Unknown artists

Once again it is time for ABC Wednesday. This week we are to focus on Y and continuing with the art theme, it was a challenge this week to find Y artists. I definitely did not know any of the artist. I did choose 3 very different artists.

Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun - a Native Canadian artist from British Columbia (born in 1957) who paints very political paintings

William Frederick Yeames (1835 – 1918) was "a British painter best known for his painting " And When Did You Last See Your Father?" , which depicts the son of a Royalist being questioned by parliamentarians during the English Civil War." Wikipedia

John "Jack" Butler Yeats ( 1871 – 1957) was an Irish painter. (His brother was William Butler Yeats)

Be sure to check out the great participants here.

Yes, unknown to me. But how interesting that the poet Yeats had a brother who was a painter!

Always learn something from your ABC posts, Bev! Knew about Yeats and his brother, but the others are new! How fun, love learning something new! Hope your week is off to a good start! Enjoy!

I love that painting: "When did you last see your father?" Other than "The Laughing Cavalier" it's probably one of the first paintings I ever recognized.

I just saw the the Yeames recently in Liverpool. A strange experience, coming across the original of a famous painting unexpectedly.

I was born in British Columbia before Yuxweluptun and I don't recognize his name, either, although his paintings ring a distant bell.
I've seen the Yeames painting before (heartbreaking idea, heartbreaking title) but didn't know W.B. Yeats had an artist brother. Learn something new everyday.
