Wishcast Wednesday

Today is Wishcast Wednesday and once again Jamie Ridler (Of Jamie Ridler Studios) asks once again a deep question:

What do you wish to awaken?

I have been trying to awaken my creativity this past year and I am much creative than I have ever been. I am involved in ATC swaps, challenges , dreamboards and courses online. I have been involved in 3 of The Next Chapter Book Clubs.

But, even though I would like to be called an artist, I don't feel I am one. So, I would like to fully awaken the artist hidden inside me, to awaken the creative spirit and positive energy necesssary to be one. I want to continue to grow artistically and seek mentors to help in that growth.

As Jamie says:

"You can be a maker of magic and a tender of wishes. It’s easy. Support wishes by visiting other participants. There is great power in wishing together."

Support other wish-makers here.

As Beverley wishes for herself, so I joyfully wish for her also.

I think that the more we immerse ourselves in the arts, the more creative we become. I understand what you're saying about hesitating to call yourself an artist but you have to ask the question: 'When am I going to allow that label to be attached to myself?' I'd say, call yourself an 'aspiring artist' if that makes you feel more comfortable but, to me, the moment you created your first piece of work (those ATCs?) you became an artist. :)

As Beverly wishes for herself, I wish for her as well. In my writing class yesterday, we discussed when can you call yourself a writer. If you are writing and have a need to write and a love of writing, I believe you are a writer. As I follow your blog, I see your love of art and someone who is growing an creating all of the time. I admire all that you have accomplished. I definitely think of you as an artist.

I've struggled with calling myself an artist for years. But I do know that I am filled up with creativity. Just keep playing and creating. Have fun with it and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Sometimes I discovered a new technique through a mistake. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you too.

Give that inner artist a big hug and say, "I know you're a part of me and I am not letting go!"

As Beverly wishes for herself, so I wish for her also. You are an artist. You create art. Embrace the title, and live into it.

Thank you all so very much for your kind, supportive wishes for me. You have given me the courage to say, yes I am an artist! Thanks so much!
